Looking forward to running another week of activities to raise awareness of Parkinsons, here in the Coquet Valley. Rothbury Parkinson's Group are getting ready......! šŸŒ·šŸ’™

C'mon.... lets 'Make it Blue'! šŸŒ·šŸ’™

Every 20 minutes, someone is diagnosed with Parkinson's.

World Parkinson’s Day is on Saturday 11 April and is a chance to raise awareness, build understanding of the challenges faced by those living with the condition and to celebrate the progress we’ve made in research and support.

Whether you choose to take on a challenge or take part in Make It Blue, your support can make a real difference for those living with Parkinson’s.

Our World Parkinson’s Day guide can help you find ideas on how you can get involved this year: https://prksn.uk/4rZZwLw

As the largest European charitable funder of Parkinson's research, we’re getting closer to a cure every day. Until then, we’re here for everyone affected, offering support through our helpline, local advisers and online resources.

Happy New Year!

Motiv8 Monday exercise classes at Thropton Warm Memorial Hall are cancelled this morning due to snow.
Keep warm, keep steady, enjoy the snow in the best way you can, even if that's looking out from your window only!

Take care, Sam x

Rothbury Parkinsons Group

šŸ’™Carers Northumberland will be joining us next year, in March, at Rothbury Parkinsons group to provide information and support. If, as a carer, you require some advice or simply want to listen, and find out more, please come alongšŸ’™

I'll share more details nearer the time!

Take care over the Christmas festivities..... caring doesn't stop for Christmas šŸ’™šŸŽ„ā¤ļø

Many partners, family members and friends who help someone with Parkinson’s don’t think of themselves as a ā€˜carer’. But recognising your role can open the door to practical support, financial help and services designed for both you and the person you support.

If you regularly support someone, you have the right to a carer’s assessment. It’s free, and looks at how caring affects your life, including your physical, emotional and financial wellbeing.

There may also be financial help available depending on your situation. This can include benefits such as Carer’s Allowance, Carer’s Allowance Supplement in Scotland, or Carer’s Credit to protect your State Pension.

Looking after someone with Parkinson’s can mean very little time for yourself. Services such as, local support groups and access to grants or travel support can provide a break and help make day-to-day life easier. Caring also means caring for yourself - your wellbeing matters.

If you’d like personalised advice, you can call our helpline on 0808 800 0303. Our specialists can talk you through benefit claims, support in your area and where to find trusted information.

You’re not alone in this. Support is available for you, as well as the person you care for. šŸ’™
