What has practice taught me this year?

I’ve been doing this a while. 12 years of consistent yoga practice in fact. But this year it felt like practice matured and shifted slightly into a space of support rather than achievement, of nourishment as opposed to exhaustion, of recovery rather than ambition.

It might look the same from the external view but internally I’m holding it much more lightly than I’ve done previously and this change feels good.

Aging has dictated that the practice alone isn’t enough to sustain me so I’ve balanced yoga with running and weights for the past five months and intend to continue in this hybrid way.

That’s the beauty of yoga, it’s an evolution which we can carry with us through all stages of our lives.
