📝PRESCRIPTION ORDERING📝

We’ve recently had an increasing number of patients frustrated with our staff because a repeat prescription slip is no longer being produced.

We completely understand that changes to the way you order your medication can be confusing, especially when you’re used to doing things a certain way. However, this is a nationwide change to the NHS prescription system and is not a change that has been introduced by our pharmacy or our staff.

There are several easy ways you can order your repeat prescription:

📱 NHS Wales App – This is the quickest and most convenient way to order your medication. If you need help downloading or setting up the app, please pop into the pharmacy and our team will be more than happy to help you get started.

📞 Give us a call – You can phone the pharmacy around one week before your prescription is due, and our team can order it for you.

🏥 Pop into the pharmacy – If you prefer, you can come in around one week before your prescription is due, and we can help you place the order.

Our team is always here to help, and we’re more than happy to support anyone who is unsure about the new process. These changes are outside of our control, but helping you through them isn’t.

We want your thoughts!

As you may be aware, local surgeries will soon be switching over to electronic prescriptions. This will mean they will no longer be printing repeat order forms.

The options for ordering prescriptions will be
- Writing your order down and handing it in to the surgery
- Telephoning the pharmacy to order
- Using the NHS app

The NHS app will be the easiest method, however we understand that switching over to using it may be daunting for patients.

We have come up with an idea to support patients who wish to use the app, but we would like your feedback.

Our staff are willing to set aside time after we close for the day to offer drop in sessions to help patients set up the app and show you how to use it. Please let us know if you feel this would be useful to you or someone you know so that we can put plans in place.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

🔹Surgeries in the local area will soon be switching to electronic prescriptions. This means there will no longer be green paper prescriptions as your prescription will be sent to your pharmacy electronically.

🔸If your prescription usually gets sent to us from your surgery and you would like to continue that way, you need to renominate us as your chosen pharmacy.

🔹We are starting to put the nomination forms in your prescription bags which you can fill in and bring back to us. This will ensure you are signed up ready for when the change over happens.

🔸If you don’t get a form in your bag then feel free to pop into the pharmacy to pick one up.

🪺A reminder that we will be closed on Friday 3rd April and Monday 6th April for Easter.

🪺Please ensure you order your prescriptions in plenty of time to give both us and the surgery time to process them.

🪺You can sign up to our text messaging service where we will text you when your prescription is ready. Pop in or give us a call if you would like to sign up to this service.

‼️Ramipril 5mg capsules recall‼️

Please see the following recall from the MHRA. This affects all patients regardless of what pharmacy they use.

Crescent Pharma Limited is recalling one batch of Ramipril 5 mg Capsules as a precautionary measure because a potential manufacturing error may have led to two blood pressure medicines being packaged incorrectly.

This follows a complaint from a pharmacy after a patient reported that a pack labelled Ramipril 5 mg Capsules (Batch Number GR164099) contained blister strips of Amlodipine 5 mg Tablets inside the sealed carton.

Both blood pressure medications are produced by the same manufacturer, at the same site, and the error appears to have occurred during secondary packaging of the blister strips into the cartons.

Patients who take Ramipril are advised to check the packaging of their medicine for batch number GR164099 and return any containing blister strips labelled “Amlodipine” to their pharmacist.

If you have any concerns please contact your pharmacy who will be happy to help and advise you further.

As many of you know, Jan is retiring this week after many dedicated years with us 💐

During her time here, she has seen the pharmacy through so many changes — from Sheppards, to Avicenna, and now Knights. Through every chapter, Jan has been a familiar, friendly face and a huge part of our team and community.

Jan will be working Wednesday and Thursday this week, so if you’d like to pop in and wish her well for her retirement, she would love to see you.
