Your body keeps the score 🌿
Long before we had words for what we’re feeling, our bodies know. The tight chest before we admit we’re anxious. The clenched jaw we didn’t notice. The breath we’ve been holding - sometimes for years.
Somatic practices invite us to listen.
Rather than only talking 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 our feelings, we gently turn towards what’s happening 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 - the tension, the holding, the subtle signals we’ve learned to override. Because stress, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss don’t just live in our thoughts. They live in our muscles, our breath, our nervous system.
A few gentle ways to begin:
🌱𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 - pause and ask, “What is my body saying right now?” No need to change it. Just notice.
🌱𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄 - a longer exhale than inhale signals safety to your nervous system.
🌱𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 - feel your feet on the floor, your back against the chair. You are here. You are safe in this moment.
🌱𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 - soften the jaw, drop the shoulders, unclench the hands.
Healing isn’t only a conversation. Sometimes it’s a slow, kind homecoming to the body we’ve been living 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦 rather than 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯.
In my work I weave somatic awareness through integrative counselling, hypnotherapy, EFT (tapping), Bowen Therapy, Sound Healing & Therapeutic Yin Yoga - meeting you wherever you are, at whatever pace feels right.
Come as you are. Leave more like yourself 🤍
