Happy Friday Peeps!

Ending a busy week in the treatment room with a calming, holistic Indian Head Massage. It’s the perfect treatment to help unwind after a busy week at work.

While setting up I was having a little throwback moment about Indian Head Massage because I did my course 20 years ago in London at South Thames College in Brixton, and here I am today in the North East of England, still using the skills I learnt there all these years later 👌😊 ✌️ 🫶 .

📢 Public Service Announcement for Parents:

If the kids have been asking for snacks every 12 minutes, arguing over absolutely nothing, and treating the house like an Olympic obstacle course... it might be time for an escape plan 💡

School holidays are wonderful... for about the first few days. After that, a massage starts sounding less like a luxury and more like a survival strategy 👌

A blissful 60-minute De-Stress Massage at Calla Therapies is all it takes to swap "Maaaaaam!" for an hour of peace, quiet, and muscles that remember how to relax 💆‍♀️

Evening appointments available up to 7pm 🕖

💧 Why does your reflexologist always remind you to drink plenty of water?

It’s not just a friendly reminder - it’s an important part of supporting your wellbeing.

Our bodies are made up of around 60% water, and every cell relies on it to function properly. Water helps transport nutrients, regulate body temperature, lubricate joints, support digestion, and flush waste products from the body.

When you’re dehydrated, even mildly, you may notice:
💧 Fatigue or low energy
💧 Headaches
💧 Muscle cramps
💧 Brain fog or poor concentration
💧 Dry skin
💧 Dizziness
💧 Constipation

During a reflexology treatment, your body is encouraged to relax, rebalance, and support its natural healing processes. Staying well hydrated helps your body function at its best before and after your session.

☀️ In the summer months, it’s even easier to become dehydrated. Warmer weather means we lose more fluid through sweating, and if we’re spending time outdoors, exercising, travelling, or enjoying the sunshine, our water needs increase.

A few simple ways to stay hydrated:
✅ Sip water regularly throughout the day rather than waiting until you’re thirsty.
✅ Enjoy water-rich foods like cucumber, watermelon, oranges, and strawberries.
✅ Remember that tea and coffee don’t replace water, especially on hot days.

Think of water as one of the simplest acts of self-care - it supports your body every single day.

So next time your reflexologist reminds you to drink more water, you’ll know it’s because we want you to get the very best from your treatment and feel your healthiest.

The recommended daily water intake is around 8 glasses a day, although your individual needs may vary depending on your activity level, the weather, and your overall health.
How many glasses of water have you had today?💙👣

There are plenty of myths surrounding reflexology—but the truth is far more interesting.

Reflexology is a gentle, complementary therapy that supports relaxation, encourages wellbeing, and gives you time to reconnect with yourself. Don't let misconceptions stop you from discovering what it can offer.

Stay curious, ask questions, and always seek information from qualified reflexologists.

And that’s a wrap on a busy June in the treatment room.

The most popular treatment this month was sports massage with cupping. In fact I did so many of these treatments I had to invest in more cupping cups!

Combining cupping with a sports massage can help ease muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce stiffness, and support faster recovery after training or everyday aches. The massage works deep into the muscles, while the cupping helps lift and decompress the muscle tissue.

Your body works hard for you every day—give it the care it deserves.

A monthly therapeutic massage isn't just a luxury; it's an investment in your health. Regular treatments can help reduce muscle tension, relieve stress, improve circulation, support better sleep, and keep your body moving at its best.

Make self-care part of your routine, not just something you do when you're in pain. Your mind and body will thank you.

Of all the different treatments I provide, Reflexology is hands down my absolute favourite!

I love seeing how something as gentle and relaxing as working on the feet can have such a positive impact on overall wellbeing.

Reflexology encourages deep relaxation, helps reduce stress and tension, improves circulation, and supports the body's natural healing processes. Many of my clients leave feeling calmer, more balanced, and better able to cope with the demands of everyday life.

There’s nothing more rewarding than helping people take time for themselves and supporting their journey towards better wellbeing.
