I'll be away with FM for a few European dates as of September 17th. I'll likely be back into work on the 22nd and will adjust my days off accordingly. I already have a fair amount of work in, so please bear the above short week in mind if scheduling guitar setups/repairs around any gigs you have pending.

Thanks guys xx

A bit of a short week next week I'm afraid. Monday is a bank holiday, so I'm closed, but then I'm away on Thursday and Friday with the FM boys for a festival in Nene Valley. I'll cram as much as I can into Tuesday and Wednesday and I'll be at the Rhythm House in Saturday, but fear not, normality returns the following week.

I'll give exact dates of my next stint with FM when I know, but it likely starts around the 17th.

A preamp upgrade for Pete's old Washburn thin bodied acoustic. It went from being a very basic volume with bass/mid/treble sliders to a blend type preamp (Fishman Presys+) with a built in tuner.

As the saddle was quite unique, I had to attach the original pickup to the new preamp as the stock transducer was incompatible. Luckily, the old pickup worked absolutely fine.

A setup with 10s finishes the job after a light profile and dressing of the frets and a fretboard treatment.

Tim Read's Custom Shop Les Paul

Tim has had this guitar for some years now. It's a lovely instrument (except for the Tronical robotuners đŸ˜‚).

The action was a little high, the tuning a little unstable and it just needed a bit of TLC. The upper frets were causing bends to choke out so that necessitated some fret filing. The rest of the frets were given a light profiling and dressing to remove some of the wear, then it was setup in E flat.

It's a few weeks away but just a heads up that I'll be out on the road with FM for a few days around September 17-21, but I'll update the info once I get the information.

Thanks x

I forgot to say, but no extra day off this week due to poor weather, so I'm in work tomorrow and Friday as usual.

I have no words....

Other than, don't do this. Strings shouldn't have anything clinging/growing/decaying on them. They can't sound good. They definitely won't intonate well. The dirt will accelerate fret wear. It also costs more in time for me to restore it to its former glory, when a simple wipe down before it gets put away would prevent 90% of this.

This is bad practice. Not only is it pretty unhygienic, it's also not good for the guitar. That dirt holds sweat, which is acidic and will eventually eat into the lacquer and wood where the edge is (next to the frets). It also corrodes the hardware and gets into the electronics. It's simple to avoid...just clean your guitar regularly.

Hazmat level 7.5/10....

Cleaned, jack replaced and restrung with a check of the setup parameters.

It's short notice, I apologize, but I'll be closed Wednesday and Thursday again this week.

I actually need to sort the brakes on my car as they're binding again, so painting will have to wait. Mind you it's forecast 90+ degrees so I suspect I'd only have to open the can for the paint to solidify.
