🚨 Missed Appointments Today 🚨

Today alone, we have had 10 missed appointments across our GP and nursing teams. 😔

When an appointment is not attended and we aren’t notified, that appointment could have been offered to another patient who desperately needs to be seen. 🩺❤️

💷 Each missed appointment costs the NHS an average of around £30.

We understand that things happen and sometimes you may be unable to attend. If you can’t make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. 📞📱

We have several different ways to contact the surgery to cancel, making it as easy as possible for you to let us know.

👉 Please cancel in advance if you cannot attend.
Your cancellation could allow another patient to receive the care they urgently need. 💚

👨‍⚕️Please read this update from Dr Flattery👨‍⚕️

After 28 years as a GP at Kiltearn Medical Centre I will be retiring from medical practice on the 2nd of October 2026.
It has been a great privilege to have cared for you and your families over the years and the relationships I have built with my patients has helped make general practice such a rewarding vocation.
I leave with many happy memories and gratitude to you all and the many colleagues whose paths I have crossed over the years.
I wish you and your families good health and happiness for the future.

🌞 Heatwave Advice – Stay Safe in the Hot Weather 🌞

With temperatures expected to remain high over the coming days, we'd like to remind all our patients to take extra care in the heat.

💧 Top tips to stay safe:
✅ Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
✅ Stay in the shade, especially between 11am and 3pm when the sun is strongest.
✅ Keep your home cool by closing curtains or blinds in sunny rooms.
✅ Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if you're outside.
✅ Apply sunscreen (SPF 30+ or higher) and reapply regularly.
✅ Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.

👶 Take extra care of:

Older adults
Babies and young children
Pregnant women
People with long-term health conditions, such as heart or lung disease

🤝 Look after others
Please check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, or anyone who may be vulnerable during the hot weather.

🚨 Know the signs of heat exhaustion:

Dizziness
Headache
Excessive sweating
Feeling sick
Tiredness or weakness

Move to a cool place, drink plenty of fluids, and cool the skin with water. If symptoms worsen or don't improve within 30 minutes, seek medical advice.

📞 If you think someone has heatstroke (confusion, loss of consciousness, or they are no longer sweating despite being hot), call 999 immediately.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and enjoy the sunshine responsibly! ☀️💚
