**Patient Update – Cliff Villages Medical Practice**

We want to speak openly with our patients about the pressure our practice team is currently experiencing.

Demand for appointments and services at Cliff Villages Medical Practice is at an all-time high. Our clinical rooms are fully occupied with clinicians, and our teams are working extremely hard every day to accommodate as many patients as safely and appropriately as possible.

We understand that it can be frustrating when you cannot get the appointment you want, when you have to wait, or when services do not work in the way you would like them to. We genuinely understand that frustration.

However, appointment availability and the level of demand are not within the control of our reception team.

We have recently received feedback from our staff about the level of abuse and aggression they are experiencing on a daily basis. Our reception team in particular are feeling extremely tired and, understandably, very deflated by the way some interactions are taking place.

This is not acceptable.

Our reception staff are here to help you. They do not decide how many appointments are available, how many patients need to be seen, which clinician you are offered, or how quickly the practice can respond to demand. They are working within the resources and appointments available to them and are doing their very best to support every patient.

We ask that you please remember there is a person on the other side of the telephone or reception desk. They are doing their job and should not be subjected to shouting, swearing, intimidation, personal insults or aggressive behaviour because you are understandably frustrated with the wider situation.

We are continuing to work hard to increase capacity and meet the needs of our patients, but there are limits to what our teams can provide at any one time. We ask for your patience and understanding while we continue to manage this exceptionally high level of demand.

Cliff Villages Medical Practice operates a Zero Tolerance Policy towards abusive, threatening or aggressive behaviour. Where behaviour is unacceptable, appropriate action may be taken in line with our policy and NHS guidance.

We are proud of the work our teams are doing under significant pressure. Please help us to support them by treating every member of staff with the same respect and courtesy that you would expect for yourself.

Summer Bank Holiday – Monday 31 August 🌞

With the Summer Bank Holiday approaching, we wanted to remind our patients that our practices will be closed on Monday 31 August.

If you need help with a minor illness or condition, local pharmacies will be offering the NHS Pharmacy First service, where you can receive advice and treatment for a range of common conditions without needing to see a GP.

📢 A quick clarification about our opening hours

We’ve noticed some comments and questions regarding appointments being offered outside of our usual site opening hours, so we wanted to provide a little clarification.

As we work through our current backlog, we are opening additional hours at our practices to provide more capacity and appointments for our patients. This means that, on some occasions, appointments may be available at a time when the practice’s usual opening hours shown on our website indicate that the site is closed.

If you receive an appointment confirmation from us, please be assured that the appointment is valid and that the relevant site will be operating specifically to provide that service.

👉 Please attend your appointment at the designated practice and at the time stated on your confirmation, even if the website shows that the practice is normally closed at that time.

We are increasing our opening capacity where we can to help reduce the backlog and look at our current demand and ensure our patients can access the care they need. We really appreciate your patience and understanding while we work through this.

✨ Another Step Forward at Waddington Surgery! ✨

Our refurbishment project is continuing, and we're delighted to share that the corridors at Waddington Surgery have now been completed!

The new flooring has made a huge difference, creating a brighter, cleaner and more welcoming environment throughout the practice. We hope you'll agree it's looking much fresher already!

This is all part of our ongoing investment in improving the surgery for our patients and staff. Next, we'll be turning our attention to the consulting rooms as the transformation continues.
