When toes turn into little paws 🐾👣

The small muscles within the foot help control toe movement, support the arches of the foot, and contribute to balance and stability while walking.

Their function can be assessed using tests such as the paper grip test, during which the toes try to hold a piece of paper against gentle resistance.

This photo shows just how mobile our toes can be—although range of movement alone does not provide a complete assessment of foot health or function.

Foot problems are very common, and there is absolutely no reason to feel embarrassed about them.

Corns, calluses, cracked heels, thickened or damaged nails, verrucae and ingrown toenails can affect anyone. Sometimes people wait for months because they feel ashamed, worried or unsure where to ask for help.

Can nail fungus spread to other family members? 👣

Yes — nail fungus can spread between people living in the same home, especially when they share towels, shoes, socks, bed sheets or nail tools. Dermatophytes can also stay on damp surfaces, such as bathroom floors and showers.

It is also possible to spread the infection to other parts of your own body. Touching infected toenails or the skin on your feet can transfer dermatophytes to your hands, fingernails or other areas of your skin.

How can you reduce the risk of spreading the infection?

✔️ Do not share towels, socks or shoes.
✔️ Use your own nail clippers, files and scissors.
✔️ Wash and dry your feet carefully, especially between the toes.
✔️ Wash towels and socks regularly.
✔️ Wear flip-flops in shared bathrooms, swimming pools and showers.
✔️ Wash your hands carefully after touching affected nails.
✔️ Do not ignore athlete’s foot, because it can spread to the toenails.

Nail fungus is not only a cosmetic problem. Starting the right treatment early can help stop the infection from spreading and protect other family members. 💚

Czy grzybicą paznokci można zarazić domowników? 👣

Tak — grzybica paznokci może przenosić się pomiędzy domownikami, szczególnie gdy wspólnie używamy ręczników, obuwia, skarpet, pościeli lub narzędzi do paznokci. Dermatofity mogą pozostawać także na wilgotnych powierzchniach, takich jak podłoga w łazience czy prysznic.

Co ważne, infekcję można przenieść również na inne części własnego ciała. Dotykanie zakażonych paznokci lub skóry stóp może pomóc dermatofitom przedostać się między innymi na dłonie, paznokcie rąk albo inne obszary skóry.

Jak zmniejszyć ryzyko zakażenia?

✔️ Nie dziel się ręcznikami, skarpetami ani obuwiem.
✔️ Używaj własnych cążek, pilników i nożyczek.
✔️ Dokładnie myj i osuszaj stopy, szczególnie przestrzenie między palcami.
✔️ Regularnie pierz ręczniki i skarpety.

💚 Healthy nails are always more important than beautiful nails.

A patient came in for a routine gel nail infill from another salon. After removing the previous gel, I noticed a green discoloration under the nail, which is a common sign of a bacterial infection.

In situations like this, I don’t apply a new set of nails to hide the problem. Instead, I carefully cleaned the nail, assessed its condition, and provided detailed home care advice and recommendations for the next steps.

Sometimes the best decision is to take a break from nail enhancements and focus on restoring the health of the natural nail. Healthy nails should always come before cosmetic results.

This patient came to see me with a very painful corn that made walking and everyday activities uncomfortable.

After carefully assessing the problem, I removed the corn and relieved the pressure. The patient felt immediate relief. 💚

Remember – corns don’t disappear on their own. If left untreated, they can become more painful and make walking difficult.

White, soft, peeling skin between the toes is a sign that something isn’t right. It may be caused by excess moisture, friction, or a skin infection.

If left untreated, these changes can lead to:
✔️ painful skin maceration,
✔️ cracks in the skin,
✔️ inflammation,
✔️ pain when walking,
✔️ the problem spreading to other areas of the foot.

The sooner the cause is assessed, the easier it is to start the right treatment and prevent the condition from getting worse.
