β˜€οΈ Summer Holidays Are Here – Let’s Keep Everyone Safe! πŸ’›

The summer holidays are a time for relaxing, spending time with family and making memories β€” but for some of the people we care for, the warmer weather and changes to normal routines can bring extra challenges.

As a care team, we want to remind everyone to take a few simple steps to help keep our loved ones safe this summer:

πŸ’§ Stay hydrated – Encourage plenty of fluids throughout the day, especially during warmer weather.

🌑️ Keep cool – Close curtains or blinds during the hottest part of the day, use fans safely and try to avoid unnecessary trips out during peak heat.

πŸ’Š Medication matters – Changes to routines can make it easier to forget medication. Make sure prescriptions are ordered, collected and taken as directed.

🍦 Eat regularly – Hot weather can reduce appetite, so little and often can help. Keep easy, nutritious meals and snacks available.

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Take extra care when out and about – Holidays can mean busy places, unfamiliar surroundings and changes to routines. Make sure anyone who may be vulnerable has the support they need.

πŸ“ž Keep in touch – If you have an elderly relative, neighbour or someone who lives alone, a quick call or visit can make a huge difference.

❀️ And remember… care doesn’t stop because it’s summer!

For our carers, summer can be particularly busy, especially when colleagues are away on holiday or off sick. Thank you to everyone who continues to go the extra mile, support their colleagues and make sure our clients receive the care and attention they deserve.

Whether you’re heading off on holiday, enjoying the sunshine at home, or simply making the most of the longer days, we hope everyone has a safe, happy and healthy summer. β˜€οΈπŸŒ»

🌟 A huge congratulations to Dharshika! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to recognise Dharshika for achieving 100% attendance throughout her entire employment with Serendip Home Care – an amazing achievement that reflects her dedication and commitment.

Dharshika is always willing to go the extra mile. She is the first to step up and help when other carers call in sick, regularly picking up additional visits to ensure our clients continue to receive the high standard of care they deserve. Her reliability, professionalism, compassion, and positive attitude never go unnoticed.

We are incredibly grateful for everything you do, Dharshika. You are a valued member of the Serendip Home Care family, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.

Dehydration is a common concern for many older adults and people living with conditions such as dementia, often because they may forget to drink or find it difficult to recognise when they’re thirsty.

That’s where Jelly Drops can help! These colourful, bite-sized treats are made with 95% water and contain added electrolytes. They look like sweets, making them an enjoyable and easy way to encourage hydration throughout the day.

Some of the benefits include:
πŸ’™ Helping increase daily fluid intake.
🌈 Bright colours and a soft texture that can encourage independent eating.
πŸ’§ Supporting hydration in a fun and dignified way.
😊 A useful addition to regular drinksβ€”not a replacement for them.

At Serendip Home Care, we’re always looking for ways to support the health, wellbeing, and independence of the people we care for. Small changes can make a big difference.

Have you or a loved one tried Jelly Drops? We’d love to hear about your experience in the comments! πŸ’¬

At Serendip Home Care, no job is ever too big or too small for our Manager Kate πŸ’™πŸš—

From emergency tyre changes and roadside repairs to being the unofficial β€œCable Tie Master” πŸ˜‚ β€” Kate is always there making sure our carers stay safe and on the road supporting our clients.

Care doesn’t stop at the front door. Behind the scenes, there’s a lot that goes into keeping our team moving, and Kate is always willing to roll her sleeves up (even in a skirt and sweater! πŸ˜…).

Thank you Kate for always going the extra mile for the team and for Serendip Home Care πŸ’š
