Recent events in the funeral industry have understandably caused many families to ask important questions about the standards of care they should expect from a funeral director.

Our thoughts remain with every family, loved one and member of the Hull community whose lives have been affected by these deeply distressing events. No family should ever have to experience such heartbreaking circumstances.

We believe every family deserves complete transparency, compassion and the reassurance that their loved one will always be treated with the utmost dignity and respect.
Ask questions, ask to look around the premises, speak to who owns the business - every funeral director should be open and honest.

We've published our commitment, explaining the principles we work to, the standards we uphold, and our promise to every family who places their trust in us.

As proud members of SAIF independent funeral directors, we are committed to maintaining the highest professional standards, independent inspection and accountability.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall at the Country Fayre, in New Romney today. It was lovely seeing so many members of our community and further afield, as well as catching up with friends old and new! ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

As a family-owned and run independent funeral directors, itโ€™s always a privilege to be involved in events across the Romney Marsh. We proudly support local businesses, groups, and charities, and it was great to have so many people asking us questions about our business and what makes us different. Being transparent is everything to us.

Our tombola raised ยฃ88.50 for the The Paula Carr Diabetes Trust! Thank you to those who took part.

And we especially loved seeing so many of you take on our "Who Knows Who Best?" quiz!
A big part of our vision is bringing education into our business and helping people talk more openly about the "elephant in the room." We believe passionately in communicating with one another and truly taking the time to know each other, because starting those little conversations makes the bigger ones so much easier ๐Ÿ’š

A huge thank you as well to Matt and Jim from Charing Crematorium and Westerleigh Group for joining us on the stall.

If you missed us today, weโ€™ll be at the Day of Syn in Dymchurch on Saturday 29th August! We'll be taking part in the parade with a horse-drawn carriage, as well as being at the recreation ground with a stall, please do come along and say hello.

As always, whether you need our support, advice or just someone to talk to, Hannah, Jon and Aaron are always here for you anytime, day or night ๐Ÿค

We are proud to be taking part in the Day of Syn weekend in Dymchurch this summer. Thank you to the organisers for inviting us.

The Day of Syn weekend runs from Friday 28th to Monday 31st August, celebrating Russell Thorndikeโ€™s famous tales of Doctor Syn; the parson, smuggler, and infamous pirate known as The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

While the festivities run all weekend, weโ€™ll be joining the first parade on Saturday 29th August at 10:45 with a horse-drawn carriage, alongside Mr Mipps and all the iconic characters ๐Ÿด ๐ŸŽญ
The parade leads to the Grand Fete on the recreation ground where weโ€™ll have a stall set up with activities for kids and adults alike!

Being an active part of our community means everything to us, from volunteering, supporting local clubs and groups, to events like this, but above all, our greatest privilege will always be caring for local families and looking after their loved ones through lifeโ€™s hardest moments ๐Ÿฉถ

Come and say hello to Jon, Aaron, and Hannah and of course, Sonny Hillier Horse Drawn Carriages. We look forward to seeing you there!

Congratulations to Posie's Petals on their official opening! ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฅ‚

It is fantastic to welcome another florist to the area, giving the families who we support, more options for their funeral floral tributes ๐Ÿค

Hannah attended the opening in New Romney High Street on Saturday to show our support for Rosie and the team. It was a lovely afternoon, and nice to see so much of the community turning out for a new local business.โ€‹ Hannah would like to say a big thank you to Rosie for creating a beautiful corsage for Hannahโ€™s daughter to wear to her primary school leavers' prom.

โ€‹Wishing Posieโ€™s Petals every success with the new shop!

What an incredible morning it was at the Romney Marsh 10k on Sunday! We provided 170 litres of water to keep the amazing runners hydrated. Seeing such grit and determination in the heat was truly inspiring, well done to every single person who crossed that finish line!๐Ÿƒ

Assisting at the halfway water station, Hannah, Sharon, and Richard were on hand to keep everyone refreshed. Meanwhile, Jon was marshalling, ensuring the runners were safely guided through the route. A massive thank you to all the runners for showing their appreciation toward all the marshals along the route.
Hannah was due to run the race, but had to bow out due to a knee injury. With funerals to conduct, Hannah couldn't risk being out of action for the families we are supporting, though she was still there, rooting for everyone!

And we have to mention the children's race, it was absolutely beautiful to watch. Seeing all those different ages coming together was a great reminder that these are our future athletes in the making! ๐Ÿƒ
A huge thank you to Nice Work and the Rotary Club of Romney Marsh for putting on such a fantastic event. We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the action and cheering everyone on as they pushed through.

Supporting families through difficult times is at the heart of everything we do here at Dearman Bartlett.

We are focusing on "A Little Comfort for Small Hearts," an initiative we are setting up to support children attending all funerals at Charing Crematorium.

We know how challenging it can be for children to process loss, and we want to ensure there is always a soft, comforting friend waiting for any child who might need something to hold onto during a difficult day๐Ÿงธ

A huge thank you to the team at Keel Toys and to everyone in our community who has donated so far, your generosity will make a real difference ๐ŸคŽ

If you would like to help us keep our basket cozy and well-stocked, we are kindly asking for donations of pre-loved or new soft teddy bears (no more than 25cm tall) ๐Ÿงธ

You will notice our books by author Clare Shaw Children's Books that offer gentle, honest ways to help families with young children and teenagers navigate their own journeys through grief.

...We're Going On A Bear Hunt...๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿค

We are currently putting together a special project to provide comfort to grieving children in our community and those attending funerals at Charing Crematorium.

Much like the classic story, Dearman Bartlett Independent Funeral Directors has officially started our own "bear hunt" to find some small, soft companions for grieving children. The story We're Going On A Bear Hunt resonates so deeply because itโ€™s about facing difficult terrain, the long, wavy grass, the deep, cold river, and the dark forest, to reach a place of comfort. We want to help children navigate their own difficult journeys by providing a small, soft companion to hold on to.๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿค

A wonderful business in Ashford has already kindly donated a couple of boxes of teddy bears.

If anyone is having a clear-out and have any small, pre-loved teddy bears you no longer need, we would love to give them a new home. If you have any spares, or if you happen to spot some while out and about in our local charity shops, we would be so grateful for your support. Please feel free to drop them by to 55 High Street, New Romney TN28 8AH.

We are looking specifically for bears that are no bigger than 25cm and in good condition.

Thank you in advance for helping us provide a little extra comfort to children xx

Today, we received an email from the Good Funeral Awards. Not only have we been nominated for Most Promising Newcomer to the Trade, but we've also been nominated for ๐…

To say we're honoured is an understatement!

When we opened Dearman Bartlett, we had one simple aim: to create an independent funeral home where people always come first. A place where families are met with kindness, compassion and genuine care, and where every loved one is cared for with love, respect and unwavering attention, just as we would want for our own families ๐Ÿ’š

Bringing an independent funeral home to the Romney Marsh has been a dream, but what has made it so special is the incredible support we've received from our community. Every family who has placed their trust in us, every recommendation, every conversation, and every kind word has reminded us why we chose to do things differently.

These nominations aren't just recognition of Dearman Bartlett, they're a reflection of the trust our community has placed in us, and for that we are truly grateful ๐ŸŒพ

Father's Day ๐Ÿฉต

For many, this day brings a mix of smiles and quiet longing, whether that loss is recent or happened many years ago. If today feels heavy or bittersweet, please know you are not alone. We are also thinking of those whose journey to fatherhood has been marked by profound loss, including fathers who have lost a child, and those who deeply long to be fathers but cannot.

For the past two weeks, our window has served as a place for reflection, featuring colourful ties hanging overhead as a reminder of unique personalities, stories, and style, alongside our Keepsake Bear, handmade with love by The-SeawaySeamstress.

Sending love and Fatherโ€™s Day wishes to Jon and Aaron today, and to all fathers and father figures in and around our community. To the men who show up every day, the mentors who guide with steady hands, the grandfathers who share their wisdom, and all those who have stepped into the role of a father to offer strength, stability, and unconditional love.
I would also like to take a moment to reflect on my dad, Byron Bartlett; his memory remains bright and close, and I miss him dearly.
