As we approach the end of the summer holidays, I hope everyone has enjoyed them as much as Pip has. ✈️
One of her highlights was being invited into the cockpit of an easyJet aircraft and she came away completely inspired to become a pilot.
It got me thinking about just how important these moments are.
At around 12, children are at such an influential age. One experience, one conversation or one person taking the time to show them what’s possible can genuinely change the direction they dream in.
As a company, that’s something we care deeply about. Part of our wider mission is to encourage more young people into STEM, reading and critical thinking, not simply because we need the scientists, engineers and innovators of tomorrow, but because we need young people who are curious enough to ask why?, confident enough to challenge why not?,and ambitious enough to imagine something that doesn’t exist yet.
Sometimes inspiring the next generation starts with something as simple as letting a 12-year-old sit in the cockpit. ✈️
