Two weeks in Greece with my family… and it’s been absolute bliss. 🇬🇷☀️

Beautiful food, games in the pool, swimming in the sea, fishing, meeting some lovely people, reading some great books, making plenty of notes and, perhaps best of all, barely looking at my phone — I didn’t even turn it back on until the penultimate day!

But without question, the best part has simply been having every minute with my family. ❤️

Life is busy. I love what I do, I love my businesses and I love working with my clients — but having two weeks where life slows down and we can just enjoy being together is incredibly special.

There’s always a little sadness when a great holiday comes to an end. You wish you could bottle some of those moments and make them last a little longer.

But strangely, alongside that sadness, I always start to feel a little bit excited too.

Excited to get home.
Excited to get back into our routines.
Excited to train.
Excited to get back to my clients.
Excited to put some of those ideas I’ve been scribbling down into action.
And excited to keep pushing forward with what comes next.

I think that’s a good place to be.

I love the breaks, the holidays and the adventures — but also feel genuinely excited about returning to everyday life.

Rest. Reset. Appreciate what you have. Make memories.

And then come back ready to go again. 💪

What a fantastic day with the family at UK's Strongest Man in Milton Keynes! 💪

We were lucky enough to have VIP tickets, which meant meeting all 8 competitors before the competition. Every single one of them was incredibly friendly, down to earth and generous with their time. It was a great reminder that true strength isn't just about what you can lift—it's also about how you treat other people.

It was brilliant to meet Alex “The Future” Feri and grab this photo together before the action got underway.

The competition itself certainly didn't disappoint either... tyre flips, deadlifts, Atlas Stones and some unbelievable displays of strength, determination and resilience. Watching athletes push themselves to their limits is always inspiring, but what impressed me just as much was the respect and support they showed one another throughout the day.

As a coach, I always enjoy taking inspiration from different sports. Whether you're aiming to become the World's Strongest Man or simply trying to become a healthier, stronger version of yourself, the principles are often the same:

✅ Show up consistently.
✅ Work hard.
✅ Stay humble.
✅ Keep improving.

A huge thank you to all of the athletes for taking the time to chat before the competition, and congratulations to everyone involved in putting on a fantastic event.

It's always interesting to turn the tables and assess myself.

Since investing in the new Bodystat 1500 for The Fitness Mentor, I thought it was only right that I put myself through the same assessment that some of my clients do.

I've shared my results alongside a few current physique photos. Overall, I'm genuinely happy with where I am.

Could things be better? Of course. They always could.

The results also reflect something I've been feeling for a while... life has been incredibly busy. Between running the gym, coaching clients, family life and everything else that comes with it, my body is definitely telling me it's ready for a little more recovery.

The good news is that I've already got some downtime planned, and I'm looking forward to giving my body exactly what it needs.

One thing I've learned over the years is that health isn't about being "perfect" all the time. It's about listening to your body and making good decisions consistently.

Right now, those decisions are:
• Eating nutritious food.
• Staying well hydrated.
• Keeping active in a way that matches how I feel each day.
• Remaining grateful and motivated.
• And recognising that rest is every bit as important as training.

Recovery isn't taking a step backwards. It's part of moving forwards.

I'm confident that giving my body the chance to recharge will leave me feeling even better and improve my body composition further over the coming weeks.

Health and fitness isn't about pushing harder every single day. It's about knowing when to push... and knowing when to recover.

I'd be interested to know... are you someone who finds it harder to train consistently, or harder to give yourself permission to rest?

This month marks 10 years of training with Richard!

Richard originally signed up for just 6 weeks of personal training. Ten years later, he's still here, turning up twice a week with the same commitment and consistency that has become his trademark.

Now 79 years old, Richard has faced more health challenges than many people encounter in a lifetime, yet he has never allowed them to define him. Instead, he continues to invest in his health, stay active outside of our sessions, and prove that age is never an excuse to stop looking after yourself.

Richard has stated on more than one occasion that he feels fitter now than he did in his 40s - true testament to the importance of keeping active.

Of course, it's not all hard work. Richard has a fantastic sense of humour, and over the years we've shared countless laughs along the way!

Richard, thank you for your trust, your commitment, your consistency, and the laughs over the last 10 years. It's been an absolute privilege to be part of your journey, and I look forward to many more sessions ahead.

💪 Here's to 10 years... and counting!

Feeling incredibly proud of my youngest son today 💙

We've had a rare day together of just the two of us, and one of the things he really wanted to do was a training session at the gym! He really worked hard and absolutely loved it!

He’s just brought home his end-of-year school report and his teacher described him as a "wonderful role model to his peers."
Now he's leading by example with his fitness too 💪

I'm confident that, like his older brothers and sister, he's learning that being active, eating well and looking after your health are vital 👌💪

🚀 Exciting News at The Fitness Mentor! 🚀

After 10 years of helping tonnes of clients track their progress with my trusted Bodystat analyser, I've upgraded to the latest Bodystat 1500 from Bodystat Ltd – pioneers in bioelectrical impedance technology.

For those who don't know, body weight alone tells only a small part of the story. The Bodystat 1500 provides one of the most accurate assessments of body composition available outside of a laboratory setting. To achieve significantly greater accuracy, you'd need specialist laboratory testing such as underwater weighing and other advanced measurements.

Over the last decade, body composition analysis has been an incredibly valuable part of my clients' journeys, helping us measure real progress beyond what the scales can tell us.

✅ Body Fat Percentage
✅ Lean Muscle Mass
✅ Body Water Percentage
✅ Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
✅ Average Daily Calorie Requirement
✅ And much more

As always, Bodystat assessments will remain included within my personal training packages.

However, I'm now also opening up a limited number of appointments for non-clients who simply want to understand their true body composition and gain valuable insights into their health and fitness.

📊 30-Minute Body Composition Assessment – £35
Includes:
• Height & Weight Assessment
• Full Bodystat Analysis
• Blood Pressure Check
• Comprehensive Results Review

📈 60-Minute Body Composition & Nutrition Consultation – £85
Includes everything above, plus:
• Detailed explanation of your results
• Personalised nutrition guide
• Clear recommendations to help you achieve your goals

For many people, this consultation could be the first step towards a complete health and fitness transformation.

If you've ever wondered:
❓ "Am I actually losing fat?"
❓ "How much muscle do I have?"
❓ "How many calories should I be eating?"
❓ "Am I adequately hydrated?"

This is your opportunity to find out.

Appointments will be limited, so if you'd like to book or find out more, send me a message.

Feeling reflective 🤔

13/05/2026

I believe that physical strength lays the foundation for every other kind of strength in life.

Emotional strength.
Intellectual strength.
Financial strength.
Spiritual strength.

Because when you train your body consistently, you’re doing more than building muscle.

You’re building discipline when you don’t feel like showing up.
Resilience when things get hard.
Confidence through keeping promises to yourself.
And self-respect through taking care of your health.

The lessons learned in the gym carry over into every area of life.

Strong body. Strong mind. Strong life. 💪
