Self-care isn’t always about doing less — sometimes it’s about giving your body the support it needs. 🌿

Healthy movement, rest, nourishment and osteopathy can all be part of making your wellbeing a priority. Your body carries you through every day; taking care of it matters. 🤍

For people with joint hypermobility and connective tissue disorders, pain doesn’t always fit neatly into a number.

Joint instability, muscle guarding, fatigue and nervous-system sensitivity can mean that persistent pain becomes part of everyday life. You may still be working, walking, exercising or smiling while experiencing significant pain.

The Mankoski Pain Scale can help put words around how pain is affecting you — not just *how much it hurts*, but how much it interferes with concentration, sleep, movement and normal activities.

**A few things to remember:**

* Your ability to function doesn’t necessarily reflect the severity of your pain.
* Long-term pain can change what feels “normal,” so you may underestimate your pain level.
* Pain can fluctuate considerably from day to day — and even hour to hour.
* You don’t need to wait until pain becomes unbearable before asking for help.
* A pain score is a communication tool, not a test you have to pass.

For hypermobile bodies, the aim isn't simply to chase a 0/10. Treatment may also focus on improving joint support, reducing unnecessary muscular effort, building strength and proprioception, managing load and helping you feel safer and more confident in movement.

🐾 **Osteopooches reminder:**
**You are more than a number on a pain scale. Tell us what your pain is stopping you from doing — that information matters too.**
