✨Every wish deserves to come true ✨

When Ron told us he had a special wish, to visit Yattendon Gardens which is a place very special to his heart, we knew we had to make it happen!

Ron and his great friend Ernie, who have formed a special bond over the years, climbed aboard the minibus alongside Ron’s daughter and our lifestyle co-ordinator Suzanne, and headed off for a wonderful afternoon together.

There was plenty of reminiscing, so many laughs and a lovely chance to catch up with old friends. And when they discovered the coffee shop was closed…they did the only sensible thing and headed straight to the pub! ☕️

What an afternoon to remember!

Yesterday, 6th June, we marked the 82nd anniversary of D-Day together.

We were treated to a wonderful performance by the The D-Day Dollies, who filled the room with the beloved songs of the era. It wasn’t long before voices joined in, memories surfaced, and smiles spread across every face. Music has a magical way of carrying us back, and yesterday it did just that.

We followed the performance with a classic afternoon tea, cucumber sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and plenty of cake!

But more than the entertainment or the food, what made yesterday special was the people. Residents, relatives, extended families, and the team all gathered as one, to pause, to remember, and to honour the extraordinary courage of those who gave so much on that day in 1944.

Lest we forget. ❤️

We jumped in our minibus and we were off…destination Thatcham Garden Centre! 🌸

What a lovely way to spend a morning. Beautiful plants and flowers to admire, gorgeous giftware to browse and the highlight for many, a sit down, cup of tea, biscuits and a good natter.

We can’t wait for the next trip! 🚌

We’ve been absolutely buzzing at Winchcombe Place (and not just because we dressed up for National Bee Day!) 🐝

We have so much to catch you up on!
☕️More trips to Pineapple Cafe
🌸Gardening Club is in full swing every Friday 2:00pm - 4:00pm! All green finger friends, please come along!
🎤Eurovision party - we dressed up, sang our hearts out and had the most amazing time!
🛣️ We took a trip down memory lane for Dementia Action Week with our conversational topics.
🎨 We had the best teamwork with some intergenerational crafts when the Nursery children came to visit.
🖼️ Abstract arts with the brilliant Kayleigh from Creative Minds. What stunning results!
🙏Namaste Care sessions bringing calm, meaningful comfort and connection
💍Celebrating some very exciting engagement news within the Winchcombe family!
🐾Weekly pet therapy with Lulu, she loves her biscuits!
🍽️ Hosting family dinners
🍰and lastly, our Bake Sale fundraiser where together we raised a total of £141.13 for Alzheimer’s Society! A huge thank you to all of those who baked, donated and we can confirm, the cakes were delicious!

Life at Winchcombe Place is never quiet and we wouldn’t have it any other way 💜

Congratulations to our GEM of the Month winners 🏆💜

This month we want to shine a spotlight on 3 special members of our team - Maz, Salina and Claire, who have been recognised by residents, relatives and colleagues for Going the Extra Mile.

Maz - for her reassuring nature, her empathy, her big warm hugs, reading the “verse of the day” to a resident each morning, and even helping another resident to see the moon they love so much. These small acts mean everything 🌙

Salina - for forming genuine bonds with residents from day one, for her kindness, her professionalism and for making sure nothing is ever too much trouble. Oh, and for having the most infectious smile around ☺️

Claire - for making mealtimes feel dignified and special, for always giving residents choice with no pressure and for being the kind, warm, dependable team player that everyone wants by their side 🍽️

Caring, Passionate, Teamwork. You have it in abundance and what a credit you are.

What a wonderful way to mark VE Day🎉🇬🇧

Yesterday we threw a VE Day garden party. Harriet sang her heart out, residents danced and sang along, and the garden was filled with so much happiness and laughter as everyone came together.

But alongside all the fun, we took a moment to remember the incredible men and women who served and sacrificed so much with bravery and resilience. Residents understand better than most what VE Day signifies, and it was an honour to mark it alongside them.

A brilliant afternoon all round. Thank you to the wonderful Harriet for making it so special! 🌹🎶
