We kicked off our bank holiday weekend with celebrating some members of our amazing team 🎊

Firstly, we’re celebrating Lisa who has reached an incredible 10 years of service here at Winchcombe Place. Lisa works tirelessly through the night to keep residents safe and cared for and her dedication over the past decade has been nothing short of amazing! Thank you, Lisa 💜

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Helen (Quality Development Manager), Totka (Regional Director) and Alana (Operational Support Manager). As well as supporting us every day behind the scenes, they supported the team following our recent CQC visit. Thank you all 💜

What a TREAT we’ve had recently 🎊

🌼We took a lovely trip out to the garden centre and a stop in the cafe couldn’t go a-miss!

🎂Then it was all cake and candles for birthday celebrations - we love a celebration!

💍We celebrated a very special milestone for a really wonderful couple and their family, a 65th wedding anniversary! A huge congratulations to you both. What a lovely thing to be a part of

🍦And with the sunshine keeping us warm, there was no better excuse than ice creams all round to help us cool off!

From ice creams to 65 years of love, what a few days to remember 💜

Life at Winchcombe Place has been full of lovely moments lately and we wanted to share a few highlights with you!

🌼 Out and about - residents have been enjoying trips out in our minibus and enjoyed a wonderful trip to the garden centre. We also headed out to West Berkshire Museum for a fascinating look at some local history.

🎨 Getting creative - we’ve been busy with arts and crafts, including some brilliant recycled art projects. It’s always amazing to see everyone’s creativity shining through, and who doesn’t like to get a bit messy?!

🐹 Furry friends - our very own guinea pigs, Honeycomb and Winnie (proud members of the Winchcombe family!) have been keeping everyone entertained with plenty of pet therapy sessions. There’s nothing quite like a cuddle with a guinea pig to bring a smile to everyone’s faces.

🍺 Cheers to that! - we even celebrated International Beer Day in style, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available so everyone could join in the fun and raise a glass together.

This months GEM awards ✨

This months awards shine a spotlight on two very special members of our night team, Ogo and Wahab 💜

One resident returned from a hospital stay late in the evening and Ogo and Wahab were there to make sure they felt safe, comfortable and cared for. It’s easy to underestimate just how much of a difference small acts of kindness can make but for the resident, the care and attention they received that evening meant the world to them. They were completely blown away by how much thought and warmth Ogo and Wahab put into helping them settle back in and it’s a wonderful reminder of the difference our nights team make, often while the rest of the home is asleep.

This is exactly what our values are all about:
Teamwork, Caring, Passionate 💜

Ogo and Wahab, thank you for going above and beyond and for the compassion you bring to every nightly hour ✨

Friday afternoons don't get better than this! 🎉

The amazing Hannah Lebrecht popped in to see us and turned our afternoon into a full-blown party with music, dancing, singing, the lot! 🎶💃

And the best part? Everyone got stuck in. Dressed up, dancing, singing at the top of our lungs! You couldn't wipe the smiles off anyone's face!

Thank you, Hannah for such a brilliant, joyful afternoon. We can’t wait for your next visit! 🌟

Today marks International Day of Friendship and we wanted to take a moment to recognise something that means a great deal to us here at Winchcombe Place 💜

Friendship looks different for everyone. For some, it’s a familiar face at the breakfast table each morning. For others it’s a shared interest, a favourite topic of conversation or simply enjoying someone’s company.

But friendship here extends throughout us all. It’s in the relationships our team have with one another, built on shared purpose and looking out for each other so they can bring their best to supporting residents. It’s in the relationships we build with families who remain such an important part of their loved one’s life here and whose visits and involvements we always look forward to. It’s in the connections we’ve formed with our wider community and with district nurses, GP’s, physiotherapists, and other professionals who work alongside us to support residents.

Today we’re sharing a few photos from around the home that capture some of these connections, between residents, within our team, and beyond. We hope they offer a small glimpse into the community that surrounds this home.

Thank you to everyone who makes these friendships possible: residents, their families, the team and everyone in our wider community who support Winchcombe Place 💜

Yesterday we celebrated a special birthday and no dietary requirement was going to stop the celebrations! Our brilliant chefs made sure they had their very own birthday cake, made completely suitable for their needs. The smile on their face said it all!🎂

What is IDDSI?
For those with swallowing difficulties, meals may need to be modified in texture and this is guided by IDDSI (the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative). It is a set of standards used across healthcare to make sure textured meals are prepared safely and consistently, from liquidised and pureed through to soft and bite sized. Our chefs take real pride in making sure meals still look appealing and delicious, not just safe.

Food is so much more than nutrition, its comfort, culture, celebration and connection too. We’re proud of our team for always going the extra mile to make sure every resident feels included in life’s little (and big🎉) moments.

Want to know more about how to support healthy eating and drinking as we age? Pop in and see us at reception, where you’ll find our full range of quick guides packed full of helpful tips and information! You can also come and try our tasty cakes with a tea or coffee in our coffee shop📚☕️

What a busy long weekend we’ve had!

We’ve packed in so much! A week full of birthday celebrations (cake count = high!), a cheese & wine evening, and even a lovely outing to the Discovery Centre! 🎂

For International Self-Care Day, we treated residents to some wonderful pampering with Tropic Skincare. Some well needed relaxing massages and some “me time”. 🛁

We’ve also been keeping our brains busy with word searches on the Tiny Tablet, some serious concentration going on!

From cake to crosswords to cheese, what a weekend it’s been! 💜

We have an extra GEM this month! A huge congratulations to Evie for this award 🌟

We recently received this lovely message from Vicky, a Community Staff Nurse, after Evie went above and beyond to support her:
“Evie was genuinely happy to support, smiley and not at all bothered by me interrupting her day to request assistance. The whole experience was a pleasure. She was so polite, genuinely interested in a residents treatment and wellbeing and absolutely an asset to your care team”.

This is exactly the kind of compassion, positivity and professionalism we’re so proud to see in our team. Thank you Evie, for everything you do! 👏🏻🌟💜
