πŸ©ΊπŸ‘©β€βš•οΈπŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ Yesterday afternoon, our Lead Nurse Tracey and Dr Sam had the pleasure of visiting St Mark’s CE Primary School & Nursery to teach the children all about the important roles of doctors and nurses!

The children got hands-on with some exciting activities, including using real stethoscopes to listen to heartbeats ❀️ and learning how to bandage injuries (with plenty of giggles as they wrapped each other's heads! πŸ€•).

It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, curiosity and confidence as they discovered what it's like to work in healthcare. We hope we inspired a few future doctors and nurses along the way! 🌟

A huge thank you to everyone at St Mark’s CE Primary School & Nursery for making us feel so welcome! We had a wonderful afternoon and loved sharing what we do with such an amazing group of children! πŸ’™

β˜€οΈ HOT WEATHER HEALTH ADVICE β˜€οΈ

With temperatures expected to remain extremely high over the coming days, we'd like to remind all patients to take extra care in the heat.

🌑️ Stay safe by following these simple steps:

πŸ’§ Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.

🏠 Keep your home cool by closing curtains or blinds in rooms facing the sun.

🚢 Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm) where possible.

πŸ‘’ Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if you need to go outside.

🧴 Use sunscreen with a high SPF and reapply regularly.

πŸ‰ Eat cold foods and snacks with a high water content such as fruit and salads.

πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘΅ Take extra care of babies, young children, older adults, pregnant women and those with long-term health conditions, as they are more vulnerable to heat-related illness.

⚠️ Seek urgent medical advice if you or someone else develops symptoms of heat exhaustion, including:
β€’ Dizziness
β€’ Headache
β€’ Excessive sweating
β€’ Feeling sick
β€’ Muscle cramps
β€’ Fast breathing or pulse

❀️ Please check on elderly relatives, neighbours and vulnerable friends during the hot weather.

Stay cool, stay hydrated and stay safe.

β˜€οΈ BANK HOLIDAY HOT WEATHER ADVICE β˜€οΈ

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an AMBER Heat Health Alert for the West Midlands from 2pm Friday 22nd May until 5pm Wednesday 27th May.

Hot weather can affect anyone, but older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with long-term health conditions are at greater risk.

πŸ’§ Please remember to:
β€’ Drink plenty of fluids regularly
β€’ Keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
β€’ Wear light clothing and use sunscreen
β€’ Keep homes cool by closing curtains/blinds in sunny rooms
β€’ Check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, and vulnerable friends
β€’ Never leave children or pets in parked cars

πŸ’Š Some medicines can be affected by heat, so ensure medicines are stored correctly and continue taking them as prescribed unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional.

🏊 Please also take care around water. Warm weather can increase the risk of water-related accidents, including cold-water shock and drowning.

πŸ“ž NHS services may be busier than usual during this period. Please choose the right service for your needs:
β€’ NHS 111 online or by phone for urgent medical advice
β€’ Pharmacies for minor illnesses and advice
β€’ 999 only for life-threatening emergencies

Take care, stay cool, and enjoy the bank holiday safely 🌀️
