☀️ BANK HOLIDAY HOT WEATHER ADVICE ☀️

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an AMBER Heat Health Alert for the West Midlands from 2pm Friday 22nd May until 5pm Wednesday 27th May.

Hot weather can affect anyone, but older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with long-term health conditions are at greater risk.

💧 Please remember to:
• Drink plenty of fluids regularly
• Keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
• Wear light clothing and use sunscreen
• Keep homes cool by closing curtains/blinds in sunny rooms
• Check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, and vulnerable friends
• Never leave children or pets in parked cars

💊 Some medicines can be affected by heat, so ensure medicines are stored correctly and continue taking them as prescribed unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional.

🏊 Please also take care around water. Warm weather can increase the risk of water-related accidents, including cold-water shock and drowning.

📞 NHS services may be busier than usual during this period. Please choose the right service for your needs:
• NHS 111 online or by phone for urgent medical advice
• Pharmacies for minor illnesses and advice
• 999 only for life-threatening emergencies

Please remember that the surgery will be closed over the bank holiday weekend. If you need medical help while we are closed, here’s how to access the right care:

💊 For minor illnesses and healthcare advice
Speak to your local pharmacist — they can help with many common conditions without an appointment.

📞 Need urgent medical help that cannot wait until we reopen?
Contact NHS 111 online or by calling 111 for advice and to be directed to the most appropriate service.

🚨 In a life-threatening emergency
Please call 999 or attend A&E immediately.

🏥 We will reopen as normal on Tuesday 5th May 2026

If you are eligible for your COVID-19 vaccine, please remember to use the booking link that was sent to you via text message. This is the quickest and easiest way to secure your appointment directly with the surgery.

If you are unable to book online, you can also:

Our previous patient messaging service on our clinical system has now been switched off. This change has been made with patient safety as our top priority.
We found that some urgent clinical requests were being sent through this service, which was designed for administrative queries only and was not continuously monitored.
