Eating a healthy, varied diet, based on the principles of the Eatwell Guide, could help reduce your risk of developing certain cancers. Try to:
• Eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day
• Base meals on potatoes, bread, rice, pasta or other starchy carbohydrates
• Include some dairy or dairy alternatives
• Have some beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat and other proteins.
• Choose unsaturated oils and spreads
• Foods or drinks high in fat, salt and sugars should be eaten less often in small amounts
• Drink 6 to 8 cups/glasses of fluid a day

It might still feel like summer, but flu season is just around the corner! 🍂

The NHS flu vaccination campaign for autumn/winter 2026 is getting underway.

From 14 September 2026:
👶 Children aged 2 or 3 years (on 31 August 2026)
👧 Children aged 6 months to under 18 in clinical risk groups

From 1 October 2026:
🤰 Pregnant women – at any stage of pregnancy
👵 People aged 65 and over
🩺 Adults aged 18–64 with certain long-term health conditions
🏠 Care home residents
❤️ Carers – either receiving Carer’s Allowance or caring for an older or disabled person
🛡️ Household contacts of immunocompromised people

If you are eligible, please make sure you arrange your vaccination when it becomes available to you.
