Are you unknowingly creating the perfect conditions for sluggish lymphatic flow? 🌿

Long hours sitting down. Very little movement. Shallow breathing. Ongoing stress. Poor sleep. Too little hydration. A diet high in salt and ultra-processed foods…

Then you begin to notice:

✨ Puffiness around your face or eyes
✨ Bloating and abdominal discomfort
✨ Heavy, tired-feeling limbs
✨ Rings or clothing feeling tighter
✨ Constipation
✨ That general feeling of being sluggish, uncomfortable and not quite yourself

These symptoms don’t automatically mean you have lymphatic dysfunction—but your everyday habits can influence circulation, digestion, inflammation and the natural movement of fluid around your body.

Lymphatic drainage can also be affected by factors beyond lifestyle, including injury, scarring, reduced mobility, chronic inflammation, infection, venous problems, surgery and radiotherapy.

This is particularly important following breast-cancer treatment, where lymph nodes may have been removed or damaged. This can increase the risk of lymphoedema and requires appropriately trained, specialist support.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a beautifully gentle, rhythmic treatment designed to support the natural movement of lymphatic fluid towards functioning drainage pathways.

It may help you to:

🌿 Feel lighter and less heavy
🌿 Reduce feelings of puffiness and fluid congestion
🌿 Support recovery when clinically appropriate
🌿 Encourage deep relaxation
🌿 Move out of “fight or flight” and into rest
🌿 Feel more comfortable and at home in your body

And because the movements are so slow, light and soothing, it is one of the most deeply relaxing treatments you can experience. Clients often leave looking fresher, feeling less puffy and describing a wonderful sense of lightness and calm.

Your body isn’t failing—it may simply be asking for more movement, hydration, nourishment, rest and support.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is not about forcing or “detoxing” your body. It’s about gently supporting a system that works quietly for you every single day. 💚

Why does Sage offer both therapies and coaching?

It’s a question I’ve been asked many times.

To some, it might seem like an unusual combination. But to me, it has always made perfect sense.

Over the years, I’ve come to understand something that has changed not only my practice, but the lives of so many women I work with…

The mind and body are always in conversation.

You can spend years trying to think your way out of anxiety, burnout or trauma, but if your nervous system still feels unsafe, your body will continue to respond as though the danger is still there.

Equally, you can soothe the body through massage, reflexology or breathwork, but if the beliefs, patterns and wounds beneath the surface remain untouched, healing often reaches a plateau.

That’s why I never wanted Sage to be just a therapy clinic.

Or just a coaching practice.

I wanted it to be a place where women could heal as whole human beings.

Where we don’t just ask, “What’s wrong with you?”

We ask, “What has happened to you?”

And more importantly…

“What does your mind and body need now to move forward?”

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve tried everything, perhaps you haven’t needed more healing…

Perhaps you’ve simply needed an approach that honours both your mind and your body.

Swipe through to understand why this is the foundation of everything we do at Sage.

🤍 Healing that begins with you, for you.

This week I’ve taken my own advice.

Many of my clients know I’m spending the week in Norfolk with my daughter, Annabelle, while she’s working down here. As the week comes to an end, I’ve found myself reflecting on something I say in almost every coaching session.

Do more of what brings you joy.

Whatever that looks like for you.

Spend time with the people you love. The people you feel safe with. The people whose values and energy feel like home.

Get outside. Breathe the sea air. Walk in nature. Move your body. Nourish yourself. Rest without guilt. Laugh until your cheeks hurt. Switch off the news for a while and reconnect with what really matters.

This week I’ve done exactly that.

I’ve spent precious time with my family, who truly are my world. Being a mum is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and making memories with my children will always be more valuable to me than almost anything else.

I’ve also had the joy of spending time with my wonderful husband, David, and, of course, our gorgeous goldendoodle, Arnie, who has loved every beach walk as much as we have.

It’s been a week filled with love, laughter, salty sea air, simple moments and complete contentment along the beautiful Norfolk coastline.

It reminded me that healing and happiness don’t always arrive wrapped up in five-star retreats or expensive experiences (although I won’t say no to those either!). More often, they’re found in the simple things we so easily overlook.

A quiet walk.
A family meal.
A sunset.
A good laugh.
A long hug.
A slower pace.

Sometimes that’s exactly what the nervous system has been asking for all along.

As I head home, I feel rested, grateful and genuinely excited to see my beautiful clients next week. Thank you for allowing me to do work that I love with people I care so deeply about.

I hope you’ve found a little joy this week too.

Because healed women really do change the world… and it all starts by giving yourself permission to enjoy your own life. 💚

I see this over and over again.

Women who are afraid to stop.
Women who feel unable to stop.

Because stopping feels uncomfortable. Rest feels unfamiliar. Almost unsafe.

The moment you slow down, the brain chatter begins:

There’s too much to do.
Other people need me.
I’m being lazy.
I should be doing something useful.

Your people-pleaser feels guilty for prioritising you. Your self-worth takes a hit because somewhere along the way, you learned that being busy, needed and productive made you valuable.

But here’s the truth:

If rest feels impossible while your nervous system is screaming at you to stop, you’re on a one-way road to burnout.

And eventually, your body will force the pause you refused to take.

Your nervous system may already be showing you the signs:

Feeling constantly tired but unable to switch off.
Irritability, anxiety or emotional overwhelm.
Poor sleep or waking through the night.
Brain fog and forgetfulness.
Headaches, muscle tension or unexplained aches.
Digestive issues.
Feeling wired, restless or permanently “on edge.”
Losing interest in things you normally enjoy.
Crying more easily or feeling emotionally numb.
Getting ill more often.
Dreading your responsibilities but continuing to push through.

These aren’t signs that you need to try harder.

They’re signs that your body needs safety, recovery and rest.

It’s time to make friends with rest — before your body makes the decision for you.

Rest is not laziness.
Rest is not weakness.
Rest is how your nervous system repairs, restores and brings you back to yourself.

People fear rest more than burnout. Read that again.

‘’Why I’d Recommend Reflexology to Every Mum-to-Be 💚’’

As a midwife, Elly understands pregnancy from both sides.

She knows the science. She understands birth. And she also knows how important it is to care for the person behind the bump.

This is what she says about regular reflexology treatments:

“They’ve made me the least anxious, the most connected with my body and so very balanced… I always leave every appointment feeling wonderful.”

That is exactly why I love supporting women throughout pregnancy.

Reflexology offers something that’s often missing during this busy season of life…

✨ Time to slow down.
✨ Time to breathe.
✨ Time to connect with your baby.
✨ Time to nurture your nervous system.

Whilst reflexology isn’t a substitute for maternity care, many women find it helps them feel calmer, more balanced and deeply supported as they prepare for birth.

Thank you, Elly, for trusting me to be part of your pregnancy journey and for sharing your beautiful experience. 💚

If you’re expecting and would like to give yourself one precious hour of calm, I’d love to support you too.

Healing the Whole Person 💚

When I was going through breast cancer, I had reflexology every week.

At the time, I thought it was simply a relaxing treatment.

Looking back now—as a therapist myself—I realise it was so much more.

For one precious hour, I wasn’t “the cancer patient.”

I wasn’t thinking about hospital appointments, scans or treatments.

My nervous system finally had permission to exhale.

That quiet space became part of my healing.

Not because reflexology cured my illness—but because it cared for me.

This is why I’m so passionate about holistic therapies.

Serious illness doesn’t just affect the body.

It affects your mind, emotions, confidence, sleep, relationships and sense of safety.

Fear, grief, anxiety and uncertainty are often part of the journey too.

Holistic therapies don’t replace medical care—they complement it beautifully.

They can help support people experiencing:
💚 Insomnia
💚 Anxiety and stress
💚 Nervous system dysregulation
💚 Menopausal symptoms
💚 Fatigue
💚 Side effects of treatment
💚 Pain and muscle tension
💚 Lymphatic congestion
💚 Emotional overwhelm
💚 Recovery after illness or surgery

By helping regulate the nervous system, we create the conditions for rest, resilience and healing.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what’s needed.

A quiet place to breathe.

A compassionate touch.

Someone to listen.

Some people sleep.

Some cry.

Some laugh.

Some simply enjoy an hour where they don’t have to be brave.

Healing isn’t always about removing illness.

Sometimes it’s about caring for the person living through it.

💚 If someone you know is navigating a difficult time right now, please share this post with them. It might be exactly what they need today.

When I left a successful corporate career to build Sage Therapies & Coaching, I hoped I could create something special.

Not the biggest practice.

But one where every single person who walked through the door felt genuinely seen, heard and cared for.

Since then there have been countless hours of study, thousands of pounds invested in training, moments of exhaustion, moments of doubt… and moments of incredible joy.

Today, being recognised as Fresha Highly Recommended 2026 feels like a reminder that doing things with integrity, compassion and high standards really does matter.

To every client who has trusted me, recommended me, left a review or simply walked alongside me on this journey…

Thank you.

You are the reason Sage continues to grow.

BIG LOVE

Sam 💚

🍃Good day breathers

Today’s practice is Kapalabhati, also known as Skull-Shining Breath.

This traditional yogic cleansing breath is designed to energise the body, clear mental fog and awaken your whole system. Think of it as pressing the reset button for your body and brain.

✨ How to practise:

🌿 Sit comfortably with a long spine.

🙌 Raise your arms into a wide V above your head.

👐 Cup your palms gently—as if you’re catching all the grace, abundance and possibilities raining down from above.

👃 Take a gentle inhale through your nose.

💨 Exhale forcefully through your nose by snapping your belly in towards your spine.

The inhale happens naturally—don’t force it.

Repeat quick, rhythmic exhalations for 20–30 breaths.

Then lower your arms, close your eyes and breathe normally before beginning another round if it feels comfortable.

✨ Benefits
• Boosts energy
• Clears the mind
• Improves focus
• Warms the body
• Supports respiratory health
• Leaves you feeling awake, refreshed and alive

⚠️ Avoid Kapalabhati if you are pregnant, have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, a recent abdominal surgery or hernia, epilepsy, or if it makes you feel dizzy or unwell. Always listen to your body.

🍃 Breathe. Pause. Come Back To You.

This weekend our wonderful HRH Princess of Wales completed the 3 PKS Challenge. What an amazing woman she is. What I love about this is the story behind the challenge.

She spoke about something I wish every person facing cancer could hear.

“Cancer doesn’t just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life.”

Those words resonated deeply with me.

Twenty years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Of course, surgery and medical treatment were essential. They saved my life.

But healing? Healing was so much more than medicine.

It was the moments I found stillness when my mind was racing.

It was reflexology helping me reconnect with a body that no longer felt like my own.

It was naturopathic herbal support that helped me feel nourished.

It was osteopathic treatment that supported my body and the restructuring it was being tasked with dealing with.

It was learning how to regulate my nervous system long before I understood what that even meant.

Those therapies didn’t replace medical care.

They complemented it.

They helped me feel stronger, calmer, more resilient and more like me again.

As healthcare continues to evolve, I hope we continue moving towards truly holistic care—where people are treated not simply as a diagnosis, but as whole human beings. Many other countries of the world take an integrated approach to healthcare. Go to a hospital in Bangalore for instance and Ayurvedic Massage and Yoga are part of your experience.

Because illness doesn’t just affect our bodies.

It touches our minds.
Our emotions.
Our relationships.
Our identity.
Our sense of safety.

Healing deserves to honour every part of that journey.

I’m incredibly encouraged to hear this conversation happening at such a national level. It gives me hope that future generations will have access to the kind of whole-person support that can make such a meaningful difference.

💚 Healing isn’t only about surviving.

It’s about finding your way back to yourself.
