BOUNDARIES CAN BE CHANGED AT ANY AGE 💛

Sometimes we become so used to the way certain people speak to us that we stop questioning whether it’s actually acceptable.

“They’ve always been like that.”
“That’s just how they are.”
“But they’re family…”
“I don’t want to fall out with them.”

But being family, a lifelong friend or someone you love doesn’t give anyone permission to bully, belittle, control or continually speak to you with disrespect.

And sometimes the reason the behaviour continues is simply because nobody has ever called it out.

You are allowed to change that — at any age.

Setting a boundary doesn’t mean you don’t love or care about someone. It means you’ve decided that your own emotional wellbeing and peace matter too.

You can calmly say: “I care about you, but I’m no longer willing to be spoken to or treated this way.”

Then comes the important part — holding that boundary.

You don’t have to keep every relationship simply because it has always been there. Healthy relationships should have room for respect, kindness and accountability.

Sometimes protecting your peace means teaching people how you expect to be treated. And if they refuse to respect that, it’s okay to create some distance.

You can love someone and still have boundaries.
You can care and still say no.
You can choose peace without feeling guilty. 💛

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is step back. 💙

When life gets busy, emotions are high or a big decision is weighing on you, we can feel pressured to do something immediately. But not every decision needs an instant answer.

Give yourself permission to pause, breathe and create some space.

A little distance can bring a lot of clarity. What feels overwhelming today may look completely different after a good night’s sleep, a walk in nature or simply some quiet time away from everyone else’s opinions.

And remember — taking time for yourself isn’t selfish. You can’t continually pour your energy into work, family, relationships and everyone around you without occasionally refilling your own cup. ❤️

Step back. Breathe. Reset. Then decide.

Sometimes doing nothing for a little while is exactly what helps you work out what to do next. 🌿✨

Moving Forward Through Grief 🌿

Grief is love with nowhere to go, and of course we never forget the people we’ve lost. But it’s also important not to become permanently locked into the moment they left us.

One of the techniques I use through NLP is reframing — gently changing the meaning we attach to our thoughts.

Instead of only thinking, “I’ve lost the person I was married to for 40 years,” try reframing it to:

“How fortunate was I to have 40 years of love, memories and shared life? Some people never get to experience that.”

It doesn’t take away the sadness. It simply allows gratitude to sit alongside grief.

Another NLP technique is to notice the pictures you repeatedly play in your mind. Rather than constantly returning to their final days or your loss, consciously bring forward a favourite memory — their smile, their laughter, a holiday, a moment when you felt completely loved.

We don’t move on from the people we love. We learn to move forward with everything they gave us. ❤️

Remember with love. Reframe with gratitude. Live the life you still have.

Whatever happened to the sisterhood? Shame on you ...DJ Liz Kershaw😔

I genuinely struggle to understand why some women choose to criticise other women, especially over their appearance or what they wear.

When I read comments about Andy Burnham’s wife, (Marie-France van Heel )I couldn’t help but think how easy it is to make a joke at someone else’s expense. But we never truly know what another woman has faced.

As someone who has had a mastectomy, I know how challenging it can be to rebuild your confidence after losing a part of your body. It changes you physically, emotionally and mentally. Finding clothes that fit well, feeling feminine again, and simply looking in the mirror can all become part of the healing journey.

Femininity isn’t defined by the size of your clothes, the shape of your body or the label you’re wearing. It’s found in your strength, your kindness, your resilience and how you make others feel.

Surely the real sisterhood is lifting each other up, not tearing each other down.

Let’s choose encouragement over criticism, compassion over judgement, and remember that every woman is fighting battles we may know nothing about. 💜

Every time we see another headline about misogyny, abuse or the mistreatment of women, it should remind us that the real work starts long before an arrest is ever made.

Surely it’s time for social media platforms, schools and communities to take greater responsibility for the messages young boys and men are exposed to. Respect, empathy and equality should be the values we nurture—not control, intimidation or the objectification of women.

As women, we also have a role to play. We must stand together, support one another, set healthy boundaries, trust our instincts, and have the confidence to call out unacceptable behaviour rather than excuse it or stay silent.

Those who promote hatred, abuse or violence towards women should face meaningful consequences, and we should be doing far more to educate the next generation before these attitudes take hold.

Change begins with all of us. Together, we can raise standards, raise expectations, and raise a generation that understands that respect is the foundation of every healthy relationship.

❤️Women supporting women isn’t just a slogan—it’s how we create lasting change.

When the mind won’t settle…

We all experience times of uncertainty. Whether it’s our health, relationships, family, work, or simply not knowing what the future holds, an anxious mind can keep us awake replaying every possibility.

When that happens, remember this:
🌿 Breathe before you react.
🌿 Focus on what you can control today.
🌿 Spend time in nature.
🌿 Move your body.
🌿 Talk to someone you trust.
🌿 Be kind to yourself.

Clarity rarely arrives when we’re overwhelmed. It often comes when we slow down, quieten the noise, and give ourselves permission to simply be.

Sometimes the greatest act of self-care isn’t finding all the answers—it’s finding a little peace in the present moment.

Like so many people today, I was saddened to hear of the passing of Bonnie Tyler. 💔

Music has an incredible way of becoming part of our life story. A single song can transport us back to a moment, a person, a celebration, or even help us through heartbreak and healing.

As a therapist, I’m often reminded that healing doesn’t always come through words. Sometimes it’s found in a melody, a memory, or a song that reminds us we’ve survived difficult times.

Thank you, Bonnie Tyler, for the soundtrack to so many lives. Your powerful voice and unforgettable songs will continue to inspire generations.

Rest peacefully. 🎶❤️

Trauma doesn’t always stay in the past – it can quietly influence how we think, feel and respond to life today.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), often called tapping, is a gentle yet powerful technique that can help reduce the emotional impact of difficult memories, reframe limiting beliefs, and release the fears or anxieties that may be holding you back.
You don’t have to stay stuck in old patterns. Healing is possible.
If you’d like to learn more about how EFT could help you, or you’d like to book a confidential appointment, please get in touch. I’d be happy to help. 🥰

Protect Your Mindset 🥰

Some days we’re not bursting with energy, confidence, or motivation—and that’s perfectly normal.

On those days , be mindful of what you feed your mind first thing in the morning.

Endless news updates, social media scrolling, and negative headlines can quickly lower your mood and drain your motivation.

Instead, try listening to an audiobook, reading a few pages of an uplifting book, enjoying some calming music, or simply taking a few moments of quiet reflection.

How you start your day often sets the tone for the rest of your day—and sometimes your entire week.

Choose what lifts you up, not what weighs you down. 🤗

Raising Teens Today – by Marybeth Bock & Nancy Reynolds

This is such an important read and a powerful reminder that the words we use with our children matter more than we often realise.

As parents, carers and role models, we are helping to shape the beliefs our children carry into adulthood. The messages they hear repeatedly—about themselves, other people and the world around them—often become part of their belief system. Much of what they learn isn’t taught directly; it’s absorbed through observation, experiences and learned behaviour.

Looking back, I often think, “I wish I had known then what I know now.” Like many parents, I did the best I could with the knowledge I had at the time. But through studying psychology, emotional intelligence and the subconscious mind, I’ve come to understand just how influential our words, attitudes and reactions can be.

The good news is that it’s never too late to learn, grow and become more aware. I still find the human mind fascinating and love discovering more about why we think, feel and behave the way we do. The more we understand ourselves, the better equipped we are to guide the next generation with kindness, confidence and emotional intelligence.

After all, our children may not remember every conversation, but they will remember how we made them feel—and those feelings often become the stories they tell themselves for a lifetime. ❤️

Raising a teen boy comes with its fair share of challenges – eyerolls, stinky laundry piles, and moments where you might be convinced he’s not listening to anything you’re saying. But what lies beneath that teen of yours who pretends he doesn’t need you is a sensitive, vulnerable boy who’s paying attention far more than you realize.

Your son may not always show it, but your words echo louder than you realize. A harsh comment can cut deeper than intended, while supportive, kind words can steady him in ways he’ll never admit. He carries your voice within him. It shapes how he sees himself and what he believes he’s capable of.

Even if your son has a relatively high self-esteem now, it can be chipped away faster than you might think. From subtle habits to well-meaning comments that fall short in your son’s heart, there MAY be things you’re saying (or doing) that are quietly eroding your teen’s confidence and self-worth without you even realizing it.
