Our brother is a happy Chappy in his 40s who has many interests. He enjoys long walks, especially coastal walks and walking in the evening. He enjoys travelling by public transport including bus, metro and on the train to places further afield. He loves going to charity shops and seeing old signs and enjoys telling people dates of when things were out and published. He likes to go to gaming centres and playing PlayStation and Xbox. He has lots of paints and likes to paint figurines and draw. He loves going to live wrestling. His main topic of conversation is about dinosaurs, which he has loved since a child, wrestling and old TV shows like Spiderman and He-Man. He loves a disco once per month and a visit to a pub.

He has autism and requires support with most everyday tasks including cooking and cleaning.

Oliwer is a lovely 10-year-old twin to his sister Wiktoria. He lives with his mum and dad and siblings in Benwell, the family also have a lovely labrador dog. The twins were born very prematurely which has left Oliwer with learning difficulties and high functioning Autism. Oliwer struggles with communicating effectively however lately he had begun to string words together to make short sentences, he will repeat your dialogue when communicating. Oliwer relies on a buggy when he goes out into the community but recently mum has been encouraging short walks without the use of a buggy. Oliwer can manage the toilet himself most of the time however he does require some personal care with some toileting tasks.

Oliwer loves pizza and chips, its his favourite “go to” food, he also enjoys trips to McDonalds on occasion. He manages to eat and drink independently.

He is a very caring little boy and quite protective of his sister however he does not like to spend all his time with her and prefers to engage in his own activities. He loves YouTube especially “Handy Manny” songs. Oliwer can speak both polish and English when he communicates and both languages are used in the family home.

Oliwer is looking for a PA who can assist him accessing the community where he would like to engage in activities like swimming, soft play, and the Tim Lamb Centre. He does enjoy a visit to the Alan Shearer Centre too when he gets the opportunity.

Karen is 53-year-old woman who lives at home with the support of her family. She has a diagnosed severe learning disability and Autism. Karen is selectively mute however she will converse with trusted member of her family. She will communicate with other with written communicate and technology. Karen enjoys listening to music with her favourite genre being the 80’s. Her favourite song is “Starship” and she cannot resist a bit of Duran Duran. Karen enjoys going out for a social drink if the occasion arises and loves to attend the Fresh Disco.

Karen enjoys the usual soaps on tv, she loves Casualty and enjoys a good laugh with Mrs. Browns Boys. She can get obsessional and focus on things in a repetitive manner. If Karen’s support is cancelled or changed at short notice, this will cause Karen to become anxious and not want to go anywhere. Routine and consistency are essential to Karen.

As Karen's Personal Assistant you would be expected to accompany Karen to her chosen social activities which could include trips to the Metro Centre, Cinema visits, lunch dates and days out to the beach, she would also like to try some new places of interest. You must be able to access and transport her safely on public transport as Karen enjoys, bus trips, ferry trips and the metro to access the community.

You will be required to assist and encourage Karen with personal hygiene care including, prompting and assistance with showering, haircare and toileting hygiene. Karen will need support with dressing and choosing garments appropriately for the weather. She is currently working on Healthy Eating and exercising which you would be expected to encourage and assist with, meal preparation would be included in this role. Accompanying Karen to scheduled appointments will be required and you may be required to make booking/appointments on her behalf.

Experience working with adults with autism is essential and you must be able to demonstrate strategies to manage dysregulation.

I am a lively, outgoing disabled woman living in Dumpling Hall. I love music. I also love to go out and about visiting museums, art galleries, and I am a member of the National Trust.

I am a Mum and a Nana but don’t see my family very often as they live outside of Newcastle. Inclusion and holistic support are important to me. I volunteer my time at the local university being on interview panels and as a guest speaker on the Occupational Therapy course.

I am looking for somebody with a good sense of humour with good communication skills.

I need assistance with some aspects of daily living and personal care. I live in my own bungalow, and I am accustomed to organising the assistance I need. I am severely visually impaired with mobility difficulties. I use a manual wheelchair or a motorised scooter outside of the home.

Purpose of Job:

As my Personal Assistant your job will be to assist me with social activities such as shopping, meeting family and friends, and going to the theatre and local gigs. Your main role will be to support me when out and about and be my sighted guide.

My Personal Assistant will work under my direction to meet my needs and will be accountable to me in all aspects of their work.

I would prefer my Personal Assistant to be lively and outgoing, friendly, reliable and able to work flexible hours. They must also be able to respect my privacy and understand the need for confidentiality in all areas of their work.

About the Role

I am currently seeking a personal assistant to support me access the community and keep me safe whilst out, I have Epilepsy with various levels of seizures so you must be experienced in working with individuals with Epilepsy and be able to demonstrate your knowledge of seizure identification.

I currently reside with my parents, brother and nephew and I have two old English bulldogs, you must be an animal lover and not frightened of reptiles including snakes and spiders as I keep these as pets too. I do have episodes of depression on occasion.

Personal Care Support

There are no personal care duties in this role, but I may require prompts or assistance after seizures.

Daily Living Support

Assistance with social activities and accessing the community.
I manage my own medication, but you must be able to identify my medications and what they are prescribed for.
Places I enjoy include, trips to Newcastle to go shopping or to visit my favourite restaurants, bowling, the beach in the warmer months but I do not like the sand, I prefer the arcades and Spanish City, I enjoy the cinema and enjoy a variety of film types, I do really enjoy a good comedy, and I enjoy crazy golf.
If I prefer to stay indoors, I enjoy gaming, listening to various music artists and watching TV, I love Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Mobility & Transport

Support to access and navigate public transport.
Full, clean UK driving licence is essential if you are a driver.

About Me (Kaitlin)

I am a very sociable young woman who enjoys my independence, my mum has been a great support, but I am ready to go solo and make my own adventures with the right person supporting me. I love shopping and going out for food, I love a good carbonara at the Italian restaurant. I am naturally a chatterbox and love a good chat about a wide range of topics, I enjoy laughing and having a good belly laugh, whether its about life in general or watching a good comedy together. My epilepsy can be quite severe at times, and I can have absent seizures where even I am unaware that they are happening, but there are tell tale signs that you must look out for. I communicate verbally well, however I do sometime have difficulty pronouncing words so you must be patient and strive to understand certain words I find difficult. I understand everything you say.

My PA must have a good sense of humour and be able to see the funny side of life, I am looking for a long-term PA who I can build a good rapport with and who I can enjoy being around. I must tell you I am a little bit of a Diva, but all the best people are! I would love to hear back from you to see if we could be a double trouble duet, and “Diva” together as we navigate through our adventures.

We are currently looking to recruit a female personal assistant for a lovely girl who lives with her parents in the High Heaton area. Katrina is 12 years old and attends a specialist school which she enjoys. Katrina is registered blind with a severe sight impairment, has a learning disability and is non-verbal Autistic. Katrina uses gestures, noises and hand leading to communicate her needs and desires.

As Katrina’s PA you will be required to assist Katrina with her personal care, including pad changes, feeding and drinking which will requires prompts and supervision to ensure she is consuming and drinking enough.

Katrina is a very happy smiley little girl and loves to listen to music, one of her favourite songs is Dolly Parton “Jolene” which she will sing and dance to. She loves sensory toys especially lights and motion equipment.

Katrina is looking to access the community and visit some of her favourite places including The Tim Lamb Centre, Alnwick Gardens, White House Farm as she loves animals, and some SEN soft play sessions. Katrina loves to be outdoors too, so a trip to her favourite park at Paddy Freemans is always on her “to do list”. Swimming and specialist centres like the Alan Shearer Centre are always a great place to utilise when booked in advance, trips to the beach are always welcomed by Katrina too, but you must be fit as you will need to manage Katrina’s wheelchair or beach buggy when out and about on your ventures. Katrina requires assistance with moving at all times and always require supervision as she has no awareness of danger.

Routine is important to Katrina, so you must be able to adhere to instruction and guidance from Katrina’s parents.

A car driver with a clean Full UK Driving Licence would be preferred for this role as Katrina does have access to a mobility car, and Katrina does hold a companion free bus pass for public transport.
