Our lovely Resident Dora enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends during a special visit to Alnwick Castle! 🏰✨

Looking every bit the queen of the day, Dora posed proudly in front of the magnificent royal carriage, complete with her “100 Today” badge and birthday sash. Surrounded by history and grandeur, she looked right at home beside the beautifully decorated carriage – our very own Queen for the Day! 👑✨

A huge thank you to Stephen for arranging such an excellent tour experience around the castle and helping to make his mother’s milestone celebration so special.

What a fantastic way to celebrate 100 years of a life well lived. A truly memorable day and treasured moments that will be remembered for years to come. ❤️🎂🎉

We had a fantastic day celebrating the amazing Dora's 100th birthday yesterday!

A day full of cake, music, dancing, Bailey's, Prosecco and laughter. All enjoyed by Dora's friends, family (from all over the UK!) and our brilliant staff.

An extra nice bonus to be able to celebrate such a wonderful occasion in our new dining room and sun lounge!

This month at our Spring Arts & Crafts time, as all the flowers are blooming, we turned cupcake papers into beautiful butterflies. Everyone created their own unique design. We used them as flower decorations and even as brochettes to make our crafts even more colourful and creative. 🌸🦋

Our first outing of 2026 to the coast! 🌊🚌

Despite the cold temperatures in May, we were lucky that the rain stopped for a while and the sun came out for us. ☀️

Our residents enjoyed lovely hot teas and coffees at the Coastline while taking in the beautiful seafront views. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.

Now we are hoping for warmer weather on our next bus outing ,we can’t wait! 😊

🌿Happy May Day🌿

During our weekly French class, Judith taught us about French Labour Day. We were very interested to learn about the May bloom flower, “Le Muguet” (Lily of the Valley), which symbolises happiness, good luck, and the return of spring in France. 🇫🇷

Our residents also enjoyed playing Snakes and Ladders while learning the pronunciation, making the session both fun and interactive for everyone. 😊

🤟We were delighted to welcome The Lisa Project , Singing and Sign Language to our care home for the very first time! 🎶

🎶Our residents absolutely loved the session and got fully involved in learning some basic sign language, including“Good Morning”, “How are you?”, “Happy”, “Coffee”, and “Tea”. It was wonderful to see everyone engaging and trying something new together.

A special highlight was signing along to Somewhere Over the Rainbow using our hands was such a beautiful moment for all. 🌈

Thank you to Natasha for bringing such a joyful and meaningful activity to our home. We can’t wait to have you back again! 💛

📖Another fantastic educational talk by Linda! This time, residents enjoyed learning about the rich history of Durham, including fascinating insights into Durham Cathedral and the life of Prince Bishop William Walcher, the first Norman Bishop of Durham, who played an important role in shaping the region’s early history.

We also heard about connections to more recent history, including stories of Tony Blair’s childhood and his father, Leo Blair, who was a well-known figure in the area.

There’s always something new to discover, learning never stops! 📚

☘️Our residents enjoyed their first 2026 bus trip day out last week, to Beacon Lough Baptist Church for a lovely friendship lunch. Despite the pouring rain, they were warmly welcomed by volunteers, enjoyed a delicious meal, and had a wonderful catch-up with friends.
🌿Happy Spring! 🌸
