Thank you to everyone for coming along to the fayre yesterday, it was great to see everyone there having fun too. We raised over £500 for Denton Youth and Community Project! The full amount will be counted, and we'll let you know the final figures, along with photos from the day 😊

Pool, ball games, and bingo. Three very different activities but all which support different parts of a person. Pool is a great memory evoker - we talked about days gone by sitting in the pub with friends before a friendly game. Ball games promote movement and friendly competition, keeping hearts and minds healthy. Bingo encourages number recognition, and in the case of dog bingo encourages reading, pattern matching, and picture matching, all things which support the brain.

We've had a lovely day out to Crusoes Cafe, Tynemouth today, beautiful weather at a very busy beach, with some delicious fish and chips 😋 then we headed along up to Blyth, and back through Seghill which Mick says is a first visit for him. We talked about beach memories and day outs to the seaside with families ☺️

Today has been about fayre prep! This morning Bethan and Margaret went along to Tesco at Kingston Park to pick up a very kindly donated patio set for the raffle (followed up by a well deserved McDonald's lunch), and later in the afternoon a group sat down to wrap up lucky dip prizes for the kids games, which we also couldn't resist trying out and playing with.

As a reminder, our raffle tickets are on sale with all proceeds going to Denton Youth and Community Project.

Thank you to Newcastle Tesco Extra in the Community for their kind donation. A very lucky raffle winner is going to have a lovely new patio set!

Bethan and Margaret called in to store today to collect our donation towards their event at Whorlton Grange Care Home.
The Annual Summer Fair is on Saturday 29th August and the proceeds will go to Denton Youth Community Project.

Today we've had some great games of bingo, led by our administrator Alison. Bingo is a great game for social interaction and memory (and getting prizes!) and we always enjoy it!
Yesterday a few ladies got crafty and and made some beautiful jewelry. Margaret made herself some earrings, Hazel made some bracelets for her great granddaughters, and Pamela put together a pretty in pink necklace 🥰

We've been planting some seeds this afternoon, probably our last chance to plant any this summer. We've got beetroot, cress, lettuce, tomato, pepper, and chilli! Hopefully some of them sprout 🌱 Ronnie has also been out blackberry picking, following which we washed and prepped them before changing our minds about a tasty treat and feeding them to the birds instead. Whilst all this was going on, some of our ladies have also been getting their nails painted, to help them feel glamorous 💅
