Whether you're a student or looking for a career change, our placements offer a fantastic opportunity to explore some of the 350+ careers available in the NHS.

From adult nursing and physiotherapy to healthcare sciences, finance and more, there are plenty of opportunities to explore and gain hands-on experience.

✅ Open to anyone aged 13+ (Year 10 and above)

Good luck to everyone receiving their GCSE results this year! 🍀

Laura's journey shows that there is no single route into a rewarding career. After leaving school unsure of what path to take, she built a successful career in estate agency before deciding to follow her long-held ambition of becoming a nurse.

Joining Northumbria as a Healthcare Assistant, Laura took advantage of the Nursing Associate apprenticeship programme, balancing work, study and raising her daughter. In June 2026, she proudly qualified as a Registered Nursing Associate and now works in outpatients, providing high-quality patient care.

🦶 🚌 Next week, our podiatry team are hitting the road on the MELISSA bus and heading up to Berwick!

We're holding a drop-in session at Morrisons car park (TD15 1UQ) on Monday 24 August for residents to find out more about how they can keep their feet healthy.

The team will be there from 8.30am to 4pm to answer all your questions.

There's no need to book ahead, just pop down and speak to one of our team.

A full circle moment for resident doctor Emily Burke 💙

Born at North Tyneside General Hospital, Emily has returned 28 years later to begin her medical career as a qualified doctor after graduating from the University of Sunderland.

We're delighted to welcome Emily to Northumbria Healthcare. She is one of several graduate doctors from the University of Sunderland who have recently joined us in roles across the trust, and we're proud to support the next generation of medical professionals as they begin their careers.

Hot weather alert ☀️
