The Chinese name for Large Intestine 11 is Qū Chí (曲池), and its English translation is "Pool at the Bend" (sometimes translated as "Pool at the Crook").

How to Find It: Bend your arm at the elbow. The point sits at the outer end of the elbow crease, midway between the tendon and the outer elbow bone.

Analogy: The name "Pool" describes a deep place where energy gathers, and "Bend" refers to the elbow joint crease

Functional BreakdownEnergy Flow: Serves as a primary "He-Sea" point on the meridian, where channel Qi (vital energy) goes deep into the body.
Cooling Action: Works to clear internal or external heat.
Balance: Helps harmonize the flow of Qi and blood in the upper limbs.

Clinical Relevance & Pathologies

Skin Issues: Frequently targeted to help manage acne, eczema, and hives.

Infections & Fevers: Used to help reduce high body temperatures and soothe sore throats.

Pain Relief: Acts as a main local point for tennis elbow and outer arm pain.

Other Uses: Sometimes applied to help lower high blood pressure

More wisdom from the Masters. Here are words from my teacher, Daoist Abbot Huang Gengshi (1910-1999).

“I have to be very careful about my diet. After my terrible car accident in the 1960s, now ten years later I still have a blood clot in my brain.” I asked him if he was able to cure himself with his herbs. He said, “Sure, but the clot keeps coming back. As long as I eat properly and do my yoga morning and evening, I am fine. Also, helping others helps my own circulation of qi.”

"Too much qi in the dan tian will cause sickness in the lungs and heart. Keep the abdomen soft, relaxed."

“All this business of jing changes to qi, qi to shen, and shen to emptiness only makes the mind more confused. Make emptiness and relaxation the foundation, the start, not the goal! If you are truly song (relaxed), then there is nothing there!”

“All religions have their good and bad points, so we must choose carefully. Most people don’t want to see this so they follow a religion blindly.”
