I used both of these whilst away in the sun and was not disappointed!

Feeling I was using a product that was well created with all ingredients used gave me more confidence too, especially after venturing out with my Yuka app and checking some of the high street products, the app gives you a score out of a 100, the highest score on one of the bottles was 22/100, the very worst only a mere 0/100….shocking!

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and quite honestly sometimes what people need most is a moment to breathe.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, tired, frazzled through no fault of your own!

And so often we move from one thing to another without so much as a pause, carrying the ‘mental’ workload from A to Z, our minds are struggling and our bodies do too.

A visit to R&R Therapy isn’t just about the treatment, it’s the creation of space, time, peace, care & kindness,
and during this week in particular it’s a reminder to take a breath and pause.

So, if today has begun with feeling heavy, overwhelm and stress this is a reminder to slow down when you can, because even a small pause can make a big difference.

It’s been a busy admin day behind the scenes.
The washing has dried with the little bit of sunshine we’ve had today, come back ☀️ soon because it’s chilly, so to keep the warmth going I got the ironing board out, I know 🙄 it’s fast becoming a thing of the past for many but I can’t give in to creases 😆

It’s an important factor for putting my therapy space together that everything is always clean and tidy (as indeed it should be) with fresh pillow cases and smoothly ironed muslin clothes for each and every client. Creases simply wouldn’t suit my space.

So there you have it just a little insight to some of my weekly admin.

My bank holiday weekend started earlier than planned after a visit to the dentist (again).
I’ve had another tooth removed and this time rather than going back to work thought I owed it to myself (feeling pretty grim) to go home.

Thank you to my lovely clients who sent kind messages knowing their appointments were cancelled…not something I do lightly.

Sitting in the sun has been a bit of a tonic. Back to business on Tuesday. Have a lovely bank holiday and🤞🏻 the sun chooses to shine.

I’m sharing a post from a fellow reflexologist, take a minute to read so many facts about your feet, this is why you need to show these incredible parts of your body some love.

They carry you through life, take care of them ❤️

I haven’t posted this one in ages, so I hope those who have seen it before don’t mind seeing it again.

It is National Feet Week after all!

National Feet Week runs this year from April 17th to April 23rd. It is part of the broader Foot Health Awareness Month, which is observed throughout the entire month of April.👣

The aim of this is to change the way people view their feet. Treating their feet with the same importance as other areas of their body or life.

Many people don’t even consider their feet in day to day life. That is, until their feet suddenly have a problem or feel painful.

As Reflexologists we get to see many of these poor feet in our treatment rooms. 😟

However, we also do see all sorts of feet that are in all sorts of states, some lovely, some a little bit neglected.

I believe that foot knowledge is important information. And foot care is a non-negotiable ritual to include in our daily schedule. 🥰

An Epsom Salt Foot Soak 2 or 3 times a week is an excellent addition to your self care regime. Use just half a cup of Epsom salts in a basin or foot spa of warm water. 💦 You and your feet will be grateful.☺️

Spring is a time of year I usually feel an improvement in my mood and energy levels.
I wake earlier and head outside to spend a few minutes naturally raising my dopamine levels, getting some vitamin D and if it’s dry and bright hanging some washing out 🙌🏻 simple pleasures.

However, it’s not always been that easy, particularly during the menopause!! My mood would struggle regardless of sunshine, anxiety and stress at times would be niggling away..

Visiting Whitfield WI in Northumberland was a lovely evening, beginning with a drive out towards Hexham and beyond. The group were a small one with 13 attendees all interested in learning more about the wonders of reflexology. My talks start with my personal journey as being a holistic therapist was never, ever on my radar.
One of the questions I was asked was how do I feel I compare now in comparison to when I first set out in business.
The honest answer was there really is no comparison, let me explain why.

When I first qualified many moons ago now and having learnt Eunice Ingram’s method of working I wasn’t even aware of different protocols, and on training in methods for conception and maternity I thought how on earth will I manage the routine I was already using as well as the new routines, that is how green I was!

The behind the scenes business ‘stuff’ took so much time too but it was years later that I took the step to have a non working day with clients so I could manage everything (including life admin) freeing up a Saturday afternoon and Sunday with family, and another 10 years before Saturday became a day off too.

Being in business is never easy, it’s always a challenge and now more than ever with the changes taking place around the world so when you choose a small independent business, you’re supporting so much more than an appointment in a diary. You’re honouring the years of training, the quiet dedication and all of the unseen work that happens because someone truly loves what they do. Your care and consideration helps their passion to continue to grow and allows them to keep showing up with the energy and heart that drew you to them in the first place.❤️

I want to say ‘Thank you’ for supporting my business, for helping me continue to learn, for helping my confidence to grow enough that I’m happy to share my knowledge because as an 8 year old little girl I was incredibly shy and as a child that was put down so often by teachers for not answering a question fast enough I now know that ‘I am enough’ and I can achieve all I want to achieve ❤️

Behind the scenes a Spring clean has been taking place.
I love being in my therapy space at the best of times but it’s even lovelier when the windows are open, the surfaces have been wiped down, even my crystals have been cleansed and the energy is fresh.
Even paper work has been sorted and it’s time to throw away old membership certificates, no stagnant energy needed here!
Get rid of what no longer serves you is my motto and my latest certificate is on the wall anyway 🙌🏻

Being a member of the FHT, Federation of Holistic Therapists shows my clients I work within a code of conduct.
I have the appropriate insurance, I’m qualified and competent, I provide a safe and ethical practice AND if you have health cover you may be able to claim for your treatments too.

Are you so busy at the moment that you can’t think straight?

Can’t settle to watch the tv, read or just sit?

Are you always dealing with internal chatter?
An ever growing to-do list?

Not sleeping well?

There may be many factors to consider, work and its ongoing pressures , juggling home life, you may be caught in the sandwich generation caring for your youngsters and the elderly…it’s tough and feeling pulled down by the world as it is today.

Remember it’s so important to be kind to yourself, if you can’t settle you may enjoy a walk with a friend, audiobook or music.
Do you enjoy a puzzle or maybe some mindful colouring.
Bed is a pretty good place to be too, to unwind and relax or a deep, warm bath.

Remember you’re just as important as the person next to you, work really shouldn’t be all encompassing and your family really do need you to be the best version of you, so why not do something- just- for you AND don’t feel selfish because you really are very precious!
