Partial Nail Avulsion 👣

A PNA is a minor surgical procedure that involves the removal of a small strip of the side of the toenail and is perfect for established ingrown toenails. The procedure is quick, painless, and will cure any ingrowing toe nail or recurrently painful involuted nail.

A PNA is an alternative to removing the entire nail. In an otherwise healthy toe nail it would be an act of unnecessary vandalism to remove the entire nail unit when the ingrowing toe nail can be cured easily by just removing a small strip of nail. A Partial Nail Avulsion takes around 3-6 weeks to heal.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy or ESWT is a specialist treatment for chronic and painful musculoskeletal conditions 👣

Treating a range of problems, it is a procedure where shockwaves are passed through the skin to the injured area, using a special device. The shockwaves are mechanical and not electric; they are audible, low energy sound waves which work by increasing blood flow to the injured area. This helps to accelerate the body’s healing process.

More than 15% of women in the UK suffer from bunions, but what is a bunion? A bunion, also known as ‘hallux valgus’ is a deformity of the big toe in which the big toe excessively angles towards the second toe and leads to a bony lump on the side of the foot. This can also form a large sac of fluid, known as a bursa, which can then become inflamed and sore.
There is no one cause of having a bunion and contrary to popular opinion, bunions are not generally caused by shoes. They are most often caused by a defective mechanical structure of the foot which is genetic and these certain foot types make a person prone to development of a bunion.
