We're really proud to be part of such an essential, community-based service that's there to support people with their mental health and wellbeing 💜
Working together with our brilliant partners, Hope Haven is delivered by dedicated teams across Everyturn Mental Health, Cumbria Health, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Home Group, ICan Wellbeing group CIO, The Well Communities CIC, and Whitehaven Community Trust 🙂
All of us at Hope Haven are thrilled to hear the government’s announcement of a major expansion of community mental health support across England.
Hope Haven was one of six pilot projects trying out this new community-based approach, and we’re proof that it can work. Over 2,000 people have got support from us this year already. And we’ve seen the impact that’s had on other pressured NHS services. In the first five months of 2026, adult acute mental health admissions in the area fell by over 22%, while mental health attendances at A&E reduced by over 15% compared with the same period last year.
Behind every one of those numbers is a person getting support sooner, with fewer barriers and less disruption to their life.
When someone is struggling, they need somewhere welcoming and easy to access. No waiting lists or the need for a formal diagnosis. We start with the person and bring the right support around them, rather than expecting people in distress to navigate a complicated system.
We’re so pleased to see this approach being expanded. Some of the organisations who work together on Hope Haven will be part of delivering the new community-based mental health centres and emergency departments, and they will be sharing more about these exciting plans as soon as they can.
We’re ready to share what we have learned at Hope Haven so that more communities can benefit 💜
