Last week at our dedicated Facial Surgery Institute The Beverley Hospital we performed four primary face and neck lifts - all deep plane surgeries, yet no two are the same.

There is no single unified ‘deep plane operation’. Many patients believe they’re getting a deep plane procedure… and they may not be.

Across these four patients, we tailored a different combination of treatments:

▪️ Deep neck reduction
▪️ Microfat grafting
▪️ Net sutures (see Patient 1)
▪️ CO2 laser resurfacing
▪️ Eyelid and brow surgery
▪️ Partial reduction of the facial salivary gland (parotid)
▪️ Transposition of the deep facial fat (buccal fat)

No “lift” is ever the same, every patient is unique and there is no ‘set piece’.

Thank you to all four patients for allowing us to share, it helps demonstrate just how much these operations can and should vary.

UK Face Congress 2026 | Leeds 🇬🇧

Meetings like this are why we keep getting better - challenging our thinking, sharing what works and learning from each other.

A joy to be part of world-class faculty from the USA, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Romania, Italy, Spain, Pakistan, Egypt and Sweden - alongside so many talented UK surgeons - right here in the North of England. It was great to connect with so many of the attendees too who also came from near and far.

I presented my 10-year evolution of deep plane face and neck lift surgery and chaired the lower eyelid blepharoplasty session with insights and pearls from world leaders in facial surgery.

Congratulations to and the organising committee on an ambitious, scientifically rigorous meeting, thank you for such a warm welcome.

This patient came to me after eyelid surgery elsewhere left her with an A-frame deformity near the inner corner of her right eye. We performed a revision procedure, correcting the hollowing with precise fat repositioning.

Upper blepharoplasty is often seen as “quick and easy” and in expert hands, the patient experience and recovery can be relatively straightforward.

But it is still eye surgery. In fact, of all the patients who come to us for revision after unsatisfactory results elsewhere, upper blepharoplasty is the most common procedure involved.

If you’re considering eyelid surgery:
🔹 Choose a facial specialist plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon on the specialist register.
🔹 Check the facility is CQC registered for surgical procedures.
🔹 Don’t be steered by low prices and free ‘add ins’ - this is real surgery.

A brow lift can be performed alone, but in my practice it’s most often part of full facial or upper facial rejuvenation, combined with deep plane face and neck lifting.

Brow lifting can cause some confusion because there are several approaches, the right technique depends on your anatomy, your goals and the overall surgical plan.

Managing adult facial difference in the NHS taught myself and the team to consider the face as a whole - its proportions, its tissues, how everything works together. That thinking is the bedrock of my aesthetic practice. I’m grateful to have built a busy head, neck and facial practice within some of the UK’s leading NHS teams and for the experts I worked with and learnt from.
