Barefoot running shoes are not automatically bad, but they are not automatically safe either.

At Newcastle Podiatry, we often see people make a sudden switch from supportive trainers to ultra-minimal footwear, then develop calf pain, Achilles irritation, forefoot pain, plantar soreness, or ankle instability.

The issue is usually not the shoe alone, it is the speed of transition. Your feet, calves, tendons and joints need time to adapt.

If you are thinking about trying barefoot-style shoes, start slowly, listen to pain, and be especially cautious if you have a history of Achilles pain, forefoot pain, ankle instability, diabetes, or reduced sensation.

Footwear should suit your feet, not just the latest trend.

I am feeling very grateful for all of the amazing clients who use my service.

I recently have been given some Challah bread. I have always been interested in trying this as you definitely can't find this in Asda. I wanted to share some information about it for those who have never seen it before.

What is Challah Bread?

Jewish Ceremonial Bread: Challah is a special bread with deep roots in Jewish tradition. It's a staple food for Shabbat (the Sabbath) and major Jewish holidays, except for Passover when leavened bread is avoided.

Symbolism: The braided shape of challah holds various symbolic meanings, such as representing the unity of the community, a reminder of the double portion of manna given in the desert, or even symbolizing love and connection.

Fun Fact

Challah Offering: In biblical times, a small portion of dough was set aside as a religious offering. This practice is sometimes still observed.

Feeling very grateful for all of the amazing clients.
