Rethinkers who are local to Co Down/Co Armagh in the North of Ireland/Northern Ireland , if you ever see the good people from The Road Ahead NI out collecting, or have the opportunity to donate or fundraise for any charity…this is the one. We never know when any of us may need them at any given time in our lives.

We spend so much time on the road, either as a pedestrian, driver, runner (obviously not me) walker, we are ALL road users.

This charity was started by and is run by people affected by road traffic collisions, they pour their blood, sweat and tears (literally) into their work, and they work tirelessly.

So if you see them fundraising please, please give what you can.

A Northern Ireland mum whose daughter lived for 14 weeks in utero after being deemed incompatible with life has devised a calendar of events to support other mums.

Laura Nelson is mother to Emily, who was born in 2016 and lived for 20 minutes following birth. Together with Nicola McGlinchey, she is a co-director of Emily’s Circle, a group for mums who have experienced the bereavement of children.

The group is running a 14-week calendar of events until November — the month Emily would have turned 10.

As part of the events, the group has climbed Slieve Donard — and Laura carried 28kg on her back to raise money for the group and was deemed an “inspiration” by other mums.

We are so excited to introduce our first ever.
Walk for Safer Futures

On Sunday 30th August, The Road Ahead NI will host its inaugural Walk for Safer Futures in recognition of National Road Victim Month.

Every step is a call for change.

Road traffic collisions don’t end at the roadside. They leave loved ones grieving, survivors living with life-changing injuries and trauma, and families and communities forever changed. Even collisions where no one is killed or seriously injured can leave lasting emotional scars, with many people living with anxiety, fear, and a loss of confidence every time they travel on our roads.

Whether you have been personally affected or simply want to stand in solidarity, your presence matters. Together, we will remember those we’ve lost, honour those whose lives have been forever changed, and call for greater investment in road safety, prevention, education, and support services.

Together, we can create safer roads, stronger support, and brighter futures.

NO ONE SHOULD TRAVEL THIS JOURNEY ALONE.
Click the link below to sign up. Lets show our strength in numbers whilst raising vital funds to help The Road Ahead NI provide life changing support to those affected by a road traffic collision.
