LP Equine Physiotherapy

LP Equine Physiotherapy Lindsay Perkins Equine Physiotherapy for all horses in all disciplines and spheres. Offering treatments throughout Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.

After working with and competing horses for many years in a multitude of spheres I decided to continue my personal development and qualify in equine sports massage after one of my horses suffered an injury which meant close attention to his rehabilitation was needed. I wanted to be able to improve his wellbeing and help the recovery process, now this passion of mine has extended to helping all typ

es of horses in different disciplines and situations. I qualified in ESMT through The College of Equine Physiotherapy in 2016, I use tradition Swedish massage and myofascial release techniques in my treatments. Fully insured and IAAT accredited.

Last client of 2024 done!
Can’t believe how quickly this year has gone. As always so grateful for all my clients in supporting this little business of mine. Going through the highs and lows with you all and of course having a good old chin wag along the way.
I’ve also done another year teaching the future industry recruits at Plumpton College. Lucky to work with a great team there and some great students who I can’t wait to see flourish as physios of the future.
Time to recharge my batteries a little although those that know me well means I’ll be busy in other ways! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏇
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

An important message.

Pain is subjective!

Pain is not actually pain until the brain perceives it as such.

If I hit my finger with a hammer (noxious stimuli) a message would travel to my brain (ascending pathway) and once it gets there, my brain will recognise it as either: a lot of pain, a little pain or no pain at all (perception).

Before the message gets to my brain it is modulated and during modulation it can be amplified or suppressed. If my brain gets an amplified message I am going to perceive that as a high intensity of pain. If my brain gets a suppressed message then I will perceive it as less pain or I might not perceive it as pain at all.

So, the whack of the hammer is not what determines the pain I feel but rather it is the message that my brain receives and my perception of that.

Pain is subjective. If your animal shows signs of pain, even if you think they are not justified, listen 💕

Two days of equine and canine physiotherapy exams done 👏

I am really impressed with the standard of veterinary physiotherapy students at Plumpton College.

Well done to the team for your effective teaching strategies and being so diligent with regards to demonstrable competency. It shows 👏 👏 👏

Time for a rest after a super busy year.

It’s been a pleasure to help care for and work with all my clients from the retired ones through to the international ones, the hackers to the pointers. You’re all equally important and this little business appreciates you all for entrusting me to be your physio. All your journeys are individual and it’s great to be a part of them.

I’ve also been able to add more strings to my bow this year, teaching the next wave of physios coming through the ranks, which has been so rewarding watching them learn and grow. I’m sure you’ll all be studying hard this Christmas 🤓

I hope you all enjoy the holidays, I’m certainly going to spend some quality time with my menagerie of 4 legged friends!

See you in 2024 🎄

I'm not often very active on my business page these days. Busy...! and much prefer the hands on, than this side of things. However I loved this snippet of advice and couldn't resist the share!

The time has come… firstly a huge appreciation to all my wonderful clients that support my small business and keep me incredibly busy! 😅 I thoroughly enjoy working with all your horses and yourselves.

My prices will be going up to £50 per treatment, which always comes with as much aftercare advice you require.

All current bookings will be honoured at my previous price, March is very busy with a few appointments available towards the end of the month.

Look forward to seeing you all soon.

Would highly recommend this to all my clients. Having recently done some work on board my own horses with Clare, it was hugely beneficial and gave me some food for thought about how my body and actions (many I wasn’t even conscious of!) affected the horse. You’ll get great feedback and techniques to take home and use.
