This guy has a terrible crossbite!

This jaw misalignment will be reflected throughout the body, leading to compensations in the ribcage, the pelvis & the feet & ankles, affecting posture & the way they walk.

The misalignment may have begun elsewhere in the body - with compensatory patterns setting up to ensure the head & eyes remain upright & looking forwards so the body doesn't topple over! A clever 'righting' mechanism the nervous system uses to keep the body safe.

This kind of misalignment could lead to pain, soft tissue tension & restricted movements, making this being feel pretty miserable & perhaps unable to live their life to the full.

They may develop TMJ disfunction, an often painful condition that affects upto 1 in 5 adults in the UK.

This misalignment may mean this guy suffers from one or more issues such as:

headaches
jaw pain
neck pain or neck restrictions
painful teeth with no apparent dental cause
trismus (limited opening of the mouth)
bruxism (teeth grinding)
tinnitus
shoulder pain or tension & restricted movement
pain around the eyes
hip pain
the list goes on.....

TMJ disfunction & misalignments are a whole body issue & as such require a whole body approach when using hands-on therapies to help the sufferer.

Luckily I have up my practitioner sleeve a range of techniques & skills to help release tensions in soft tissue to ease pain, reduce restrictions & restore body balance., particularly the jaw is a big part of the problem.

Not long to go until our Summer Craft Fayre - if you aren't aware it's on Wednesday 22nd July from 4pm until around 8pm (ish). This week we are showcasing some of the crafters and businesses who will be attending with their products and/or services.

The next business we'd like to introduce you to is Elly Adams from All Well Beings. Elly will be joining our little band of Harts Barn businesses from September for 1 day a week, however she will be offering taster sessions on the evening of our Craft Fayre. Working out of Holistic Health Massage & Massage Trainer 's unit (opposite The Lavender Stone Florist) you will need to pre-book a short session with her in advance and on this link:

https://www.sumupbookings.com/all-well-beings-1

This is what Elly has shared with us about what she does:

"With a focus on non-invasive techniques to help ease pain, tension and restricted movement, I offer a range of services to create a totally bespoke treatment package to each client. Choose from The Bowen Technique, TMJ Therapy, Scar Tissue Release, Swedish massage and Reflexology for yourself, OR Canine Bowen Therapy or Applied Herbal Choices for your dog. I have a special interest in the mind -body connection and how stress and trauma affect the physical body. I am a firm believer that the body really does keep the score, so sessions are often geared towards nervous system regulation as a way of releasing pain and tension, helping improve posture and movement patterns."

Elly will be offering bodywork treatments for both people and dogs in the treatment room at Harts Barn Craft Centre every Thursday 11-7pm from September 2026 You can find out more about Elly's full suite of treatments by visiting her website at https://allwellbeings.co.uk

But if you cannot wait, you can experience a taster session on 22nd July from 4pm - pre-booking is essential ☺and yes there is something for dogs too!

"Before my Bowen Therapy treatment I could only see my eyes & forehead in the mirror on the wall. Now I can see my whole face!"

Warning: Bowen Therapy may make you taller!πŸ˜‚

Actually, no it won't - but......

pain, tight fascia, overly contracted muscles, forward head carriage, spinal curvatures, poor breathing patterns etc can all impact how we hold ourselves, making us feel shorter, more crooked, hunched over or generally a bit wonky.

The Bowen Technique can help release the fascial restrictions that are holding your body in these postural patterns in the gentlest of ways, helping clients leave my clinic feeling more upright & generally a bit tallerπŸ˜πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ–€

Sessions are available in
Newent Tues, Thurs, Fri am
Highnam Mon am & pm, Tues, Thurs, Fri pm
Lydney Wed pm
