Yoga on Tay is excited to again host an Exchange of Learning Day for teachers and trainees.
2026/27 – Bookings Now Open
IY(UK) provides continuing professional development (CPD) for teacher members through Exchange of Learning (EL) Days, held annually across the UK and Ireland.
Qualified teachers are required to attend an EL Day every two years to fulfil their teacher renewal requirements. However, we strongly encourage teachers to attend every year to benefit from the ongoing learning, discussion and exchange of experience that these days provide.
EL Days are in-person events, organised locally and facilitated by some of the most experienced teachers in the UK and Ireland. They offer a welcoming environment in which to connect with colleagues, develop your teaching and deepen your own practice through shared learning and mutual exchange.
Iyengar yoga teacher trainees are also warmly encouraged to attend an EL Day, ideally with their mentor where possible, although this is not a requirement.
2026/27 Theme: Exploring Prāṇāyāma – Practice, Philosophy and Shared Learning
This year's Exchange of Learning programme explores how āsana and yoga philosophy support the practice of Prāṇāyāma. The day includes taught practice, small-group practical sessions, and discussion of relevant Yoga Sūtras, alongside practical approaches to developing a Prāṇāyāma practice.
Participants will also explore how the Yamas, Niyamas and the principle of equality in yoga can be integrated into both personal practice and teaching.
This year's theme is particularly relevant for Level 1 trainees and their mentors, as the first Level 1 training assignment in the Mentoring Manual asks trainees to reflect on:
"The Eight Limbs of Yoga, with particular focus on the Yamas and Niyamas: How do they affect your life and yoga practice?"
With more than 37 EL Days taking place across the UK and Ireland, there are plenty of opportunities to attend. View the full list of dates and venues here.
We look forward to welcoming you to an Exchange of Learning Day.
With best wishes,
Lin Craddock, Jill Johnson, Isabel Jones-Fielding and Edgar Stringer
