Last night was a powerful reminder that tomorrow is never guaranteed. There were several fires burning across South Wales, including one just a few fields away from our home in Rhiwderin Village. As we went to bed, we didn’t know whether the incredible emergency services had managed to extinguish it. We didn’t know whether, when we woke this morning, if the beautiful trees and countryside that we look out at every single day would still be there. Thankfully, this morning they were. 🌳🙏
And it really made me think about gratitude. I express my gratitude every day. But so often people wait for something extraordinary to happen before stopping to appreciate what they already have. Some of the greatest gifts are the things that have become so familiar that we barely notice them anymore:-
The view from our window or our home.
The people we love.
Our animals.
Our health.
The sound of birds outside.
Simply waking up to another day.
Life will always bring challenges. There will be days when gratitude feels much harder to find. But perhaps those are the days when we need it most. Today, we are all so very incredibly grateful for those beautiful oak trees still standing — and for the firefighters and emergency services who worked while the rest of us slept. ❤️
Tomorrow is never promised. So find something to be grateful for today.
Even if it's something you've looked at a thousand times before. 🌿
What are you grateful for today?
