Did you know..?

Your glasses work hard all year and maybe even more so in August.
Between trips to the beach, days out, holidays and little hands borrowing them, summer can take its toll on your specs.
Take a quick look at yours.
Are the lenses looking a little scratched?
Do they need a proper clean?
Are the screws a bit loose?
Do they keep slipping down your nose?
Sometimes a quick adjustment or professional clean is all they need to get them feeling like new again.

Reading in dim light won't permanently damage your eyesight.
However, it can make your eyes work a little harder, which may leave them feeling tired or strained. You might also find yourself squinting or developing a headache after a while.
The good news is that once you stop reading or move into better lighting, those symptoms should ease and your eyes won't have suffered any lasting harm.
While we're on the subject, good lighting is always a good idea when reading, crafting or tackling a tricky crossword. It helps your eyes stay comfortable and makes the task much more enjoyable.

Good vision plays a huge part in learning but many children don't realise they aren't seeing as clearly as they should because they assume everyone sees the same way.
