‘I can’t afford therapy.’
I hear this a lot.
And I’m probably going to ruffle a few feathers here, because sometimes that is absolutely true.
But sometimes, if we’re being truthful, what we actually mean is:
‘I can’t justify spending that much money on myself.’
There’s a difference.
We’ll spend £100 on a night out.
£60 on our hair.
£50 on nails.
Hundreds on a weekend away.
Monthly subscriptions we barely use.
But spending money on the thing that is affecting our relationships, our sleep, our confidence, our work, our nervous system and the way we actually experience our life?
Suddenly it feels like an expense.
I’ve always deliberately kept my work affordable.
Not because I don’t value what I do… quite the opposite.
Because I genuinely believe good mental health support shouldn’t become something only available to people with huge disposable incomes.
If I could work for free, I probably would… Unfortunately my mortgage company seems less enthusiastic about that arrangement. 😂
But something is changing.
As my practice evolves, I’m moving away from trying to squeeze meaningful work into isolated appointments.
Because increasingly, I don’t think that’s how I do my best work.
I want the time to understand what’s actually going on.
To work therapeutically.
To use hypnosis and nervous system work where appropriate.
To go deeper than simply getting you through the next week.
So when my new website launches, you’ll see more structured ways of working with me- with payment plan options available too.
Not because I want therapy to become more exclusive.
Actually, the opposite.
I want people to be able to access proper, meaningful support without having to find a large amount of money all at once. 🔑
