8 weeks postpartum following stillbirth 🤍

This morning’s workout was all about single-leg strength & preparing for my return to running. 🏃🏼‍♀️

I got up early to get this session done before a busy day of pelvic health and physiotherapy appointments.

Today’s focus:

✨ Progressively loaded lunges
✨ Single-leg strength & stability
✨ Box jumps
✨ Plyometric & cardiovascular work

I’m gradually increasing the load on my lunges and focusing on single leg strength because of how important it is for running.

I also increased the height of my box jumps today, working back towards the height I was jumping before pregnancy.

And while the exercises themselves might look familiar, the way I’m approaching them is very different.

I’m not trying to prove that I’m “back” as much as I would love to 😂

I’m testing how my body responds, gradually increasing the demand and building towards the next stage.

As a pelvic health physio, this is exactly how I would encourage someone else to approach their return to exercise: build a foundation, progress gradually, listen to your body and earn the next step.

Eight weeks ago, my priority was healing.

Today I’m loading my single leg work, introducing more plyometrics and starting to think about running again.

I’m really proud of that progress 🤍

Not bouncing back. Rebuilding.

If you’re postpartum and working towards returning to running or exercise, remember that you don’t have to rush the process.

8 weeks postpartum following stillbirth. 🤍 | A little look at my reformer rehab session

If you’re new here, I’m Sarah, a pelvic health physiotherapist, and I’m documenting my own postpartum rehabilitation journey following the birth of our beautiful Rory.

I’ve recently added reformer Pilates into my rehab plan and it’s been such a great addition.

I’m still strength training and getting out for my daily walks with Luna 🐾, but the reformer gives me another way to move and, in particular, change up my core rehabilitation exercises.

I usually start my sessions with a warm-up that stays fairly consistent. I love having that familiar starting point, it gives me a chance to check in with my body and see how I’m feeling that day before progressing into the rest of the session.

My approach to my own recovery is the same one I encourage with my clients: build gradually, focus on quality movement, listen to your body and progress when you’re ready.

Postpartum rehabilitation doesn’t have to mean spending every day in the gym. Walking, Pilates, strength training and simply moving in a way that feels good all have a place.

8 weeks in, I’m feeling stronger and more confident in my body, and I’m really enjoying discovering different ways to progress my rehab. 🤍

If you’re interested in pelvic health, postpartum recovery, Pilates or following an honest rehab journey, I’d love to have you here.

And just like that… Pregnancy Pilates is BACK! 🤰🏼✨

Tonight was the first class in my newly refreshed studio, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better start. 🤍

A space where you can move, strengthen, breathe and prepare your body for birth, all with the guidance of a physiotherapist.

Pregnancy doesn’t mean you have to stop moving. In fact, staying active throughout pregnancy can be such a positive part of your journey when exercise is appropriately adapted to you and your stage of pregnancy.

Tonight we worked on:
✨ Strength & stability
✨ Core & pelvic floor awareness
✨ Mobility
✨ Breathing & relaxation
✨ And, most importantly… moving with confidence

There’s something so lovely about getting a group of mums to be together, all at different stages of pregnancy, and creating a space where everyone can feel comfortable, supported and encouraged. 🥹🤍

And this is only the beginning…

Postnatal Pilates & Matwork Pilates are also coming back, with more classes being added soon!

8 weeks postpartum following stillbirth 🤍

Not bouncing back. Rebuilding.

Today I finally got to put my new squat rack to use in the studio:

🏋🏼‍♀️ Back squats
🏋🏼‍♀️ Bench press
🏋🏼‍♀️ Deadlifts
💪🏼 Upper body work

And honestly, one of my favourite parts of this video is the background , seeing my little studio transformation coming together after weeks of work. 🥹

Eight weeks ago, my focus was simply on healing. Today, I’m gradually lifting heavier, challenging myself and feeling stronger and more confident in my body.

As a pelvic health physiotherapist, I’m sharing this journey because postpartum rehabilitation isn’t about “bouncing back” or being back to normal by a certain date.

It’s about building your strength progressively, understanding your body and knowing when to push, and when to pull back.

And whether you’re recovering after pregnancy, birth, or pregnancy loss, you deserve support with your rehabilitation too. 🤍

If you’re local to Mayobridge, Rathfriland, Newry or the surrounding areas, I offer pelvic health physiotherapy, Mummy MOT, MSK physiotherapy, sports injury rehabilitation, sports massage and Pilates from my studio.

Follow along for honest postpartum rehab, pelvic health education, Pilates and a little behind-the-scenes of my studio journey. 🤍

A little clinic & studio glow-up ✨

With Pilates classes starting back this week, I thought it was the perfect time to give the space a little refresh!

I’ve been wanting to make the studio feel even more welcoming for my Pilates clients, while also making the clinic more functional for physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

And one of my favourite additions has to be the squat rack 🏋🏼‍♀️

I’m a huge believer that rehab should help you get back to doing the things you love, whether that’s lifting, running, playing sport or simply feeling stronger and more confident in your body.

So this space is now ready for:
🤍 Physiotherapy
🤍 Pelvic health & Mummy MOTs
🤍 Sports injury rehabilitation
🤍 Physio led Strength Training & prehab
🤍 Sports massage
🤍 Pilates

And of course… Pilates classes are officially BACK! 🧘🏼‍♀️

I’m so excited to welcome everyone into the newly refreshed space.

7 weeks postpartum following stillbirth 🤍

Today’s workout was a little different - my first reformer Pilates session on my new reformer! 🥹

I wanted to keep things controlled and focus on movement, strength, mobility and core connection, rather than chasing intensity.

I’m really enjoying having the reformer as another tool in my own rehabilitation, particularly as I continue rebuilding my core and pelvic floor strength.

Seven weeks in, I’m feeling stronger, more confident in my body, and really enjoying exploring different ways to move again.

Still taking it one session at a time 🤍

The exciting delivery has finally arrived! 🤍✨

If you’ve been following my rehab journey, you’ll know I’ve mentioned that something exciting was on the way…

Well, here it is, my very own reformer! 🥹

This is something I’ve wanted for myself for a while, particularly to continue developing my own Pilates practice and to have another tool to incorporate into my own rehabilitation and training.

As a pelvic health physiotherapist, I also love the versatility of the reformer for working on strength, mobility, control and movement quality, so it will also have a place within my 1:1 sessions for clients where appropriate.

It’s not the start of reformer classes unfortunately, this one is mainly for me, with the opportunity for some individual 1:1 sessions too. 🤍

And this is just one little part of what’s happening behind the scenes… 👀

I can’t wait to show you more!

6 weeks postpartum 🤍

Today’s rehabilitation session focused on building strength, stability and confidence.

✨ Glute activation warm-up
✨ Bulgarian split squats
✨ Single-leg hip thrusts
✨ Step-ups
✨ Light upper body work
✨ Core rehabilitation

One thing I love about sharing this journey is that it isn’t edited to look perfect.

The Bulgarian split squats were definitely a little wobbly at first. My balance wasn’t quite there, and that’s completely normal. Pregnancy and birth change so much, and rebuilding strength also means rebuilding stability, coordination and confidence.

With each set, my movement improved, I felt more controlled, and I was even able to increase the weight from last week.

I finished with some core rehabilitation in four-point kneeling, using different positions and gentle rotational exercises to continue challenging my core in a functional way.

As a pelvic health physiotherapist, I often remind women that progress isn’t about how quickly you return to where you were before pregnancy. It’s about building a body that feels strong, capable and confident again.

Six weeks after giving birth to Rory, I’m proud of every small milestone. Not because they’re dramatic, but because they’re the result of showing up consistently, listening to my body, and trusting the process.

💬 What’s one small win you’re celebrating this week? I’d love to hear it below. 🤍
