A special afternoon was enjoyed at Mearns House as residents and colleagues came together to celebrate Maureen and Allan’s wedding anniversary. 💍

The occasion was marked with a lovely afternoon tea, refreshments and live music from a talented singer, creating a wonderful atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

There was plenty of conversation throughout the afternoon as memories were shared and the anniversary couple celebrated this important milestone together. It was lovely to see so many residents joining in and helping to make the occasion such a special one.

Our Stories on a Postcard at Mearns House | Creativity, Memories and Personal Connections

Sometimes a postcard can say more than a whole page. 💌

Residents at Mearns House recently took part in our Our Stories on a Postcard activity, spending time getting creative while reflecting on the people, places and experiences that matter to them. With pens, colours and plenty of imagination, each postcard became a personal piece of artwork with its own unique story.

It was lovely to see the different ideas take shape throughout the session. From colourful designs and thoughtful details to memories that inspired each creation, every postcard reflected something meaningful to the person who made it.

Activities like this create opportunities for conversation, creativity and sharing stories with one another. It's often the simple moments that spark the most interesting discussions, and this was no exception. ✨

A big well done to everyone who took part and brought their own personal touch to the project.

Residents Enjoy Musical Afternoon at Barrhead Memory Lane

A change of scenery and some live music made for a lovely afternoon as a group of residents enjoyed a visit to Barrhead Memory Lane. 🌸

One of the highlights of the day was a performance from a talented harpist, whose music provided the perfect backdrop for the afternoon. Residents spent time listening, chatting and enjoying the welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities to relax and spend time together.

Alongside the music, there was lots of good conversation and shared moments, making it a thoroughly enjoyable outing for everyone involved. Visits like these are a great way to stay connected with the local community and enjoy new experiences.

A big thank you to everyone at Barrhead Memory Lane for the warm welcome, and to the harpist for such a wonderful performance.

Monday Morning Fitbaw at Mearns House | Celebrating Teamwork and Friendly Competition ⚽💙

Monday mornings have been full of energy at Mearns House, with residents enjoying the last two weeks of Fitbaw sessions.

These popular sessions have brought together plenty of football, teamwork and friendly competition, with everyone encouraged to get involved at their own pace. Whether returning to the game after many years or simply enjoying giving it a go, residents have embraced the opportunity to take part and support one another.

A special congratulations goes to our recent Players of the Day, Ruth and Angela, who were recognised for their great effort and enthusiasm during the sessions. 🏆

Well done to everyone who has joined us over the past two weeks. The encouragement, laughter and team spirit on display are what make these Monday mornings so enjoyable.

We're already looking forward to the next session and seeing what the weeks ahead bring.

Friday Morning Bingo at Mearns House | Residents Enjoy a Friendly Game Together

There was plenty of focus around the room on Friday morning as residents gathered for one of their favourite activities, a game of bingo. 🎱

Adding to the fun was resident Alistair, who took on the role of bingo caller for the morning. With plenty of banter and a great sense of humour, he kept everyone engaged as the numbers were called and players kept a close eye on their cards.

There were a few competitive moments along the way, as residents got closer and closer to a winning line, but the best part was spending time together and enjoying the morning's entertainment.

A big thank you to Alistair for helping make the session such an enjoyable one. Activities like these are a lovely way for residents to come together, share a laugh and enjoy everyday moments at Mearns House.

The Circus Adventure Continues at Mearns House Care Home – Part 2! 🎪

The excitement continued for Ann, Freda and Janette as they enjoyed even more of the spectacular Rock Extreme Circus experience.

From incredible performances to jaw-dropping acts, there was always something happening to capture their attention.
The ladies spent the afternoon watching in amazement, sharing plenty of laughs, and enjoying all the excitement that the circus had to offer 👏

It was lovely to see them experiencing something a little different together, enjoying the entertainment and making the most of a fantastic day out.
Outings like these are a great opportunity to try new experiences, spend time with friends, and come home with lots of stories to share.

With music, skill, spectacle, and plenty of memorable moments along the way, it's safe to say the Rock Extreme Circus was a huge hit with everyone involved!

A Day at the Circus for Ann, Freda and Janette ✨🎪

Residents Ann, Freda and Janette enjoyed a fantastic day out to Silverburn, where they visited the Rock Extreme Circus on its final day.

The trip sparked lots of conversation, with the ladies reminiscing about visits to the circus during their younger years. While this was a very different experience from the circuses they remembered, it still brought that same sense of excitement and anticipation.

From thrilling performances to jaw-dropping acts, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained.
The ladies thoroughly enjoyed watching the talented performers and sharing the experience together, with lots of smiles and conversation throughout the day ✨

Days out like these are a wonderful opportunity to try something different, revisit fond memories, and spend quality time together.

A brilliant day enjoyed by three lovely ladies, who certainly made the most of every minute!

A Wishing Tree Wish Comes True for Jeanette and Jennifer ✨

Some wishes are worth waiting for, and we were delighted to help make a very special one come true for residents Jeanette and Jennifer at Mearns House Care Home.

The ladies had shared their wish to enjoy a night at the theatre to see the fabulous Mamma Mia!, and recently that wish became a reality.
Dressed up and ready for their evening out, they headed off with Mandy and Brooke for a night of music, entertainment, and great company 🎭🎶

From the moment the show began, Jeanette and Jennifer were fully immersed in the experience, singing along to their favourite songs and enjoying every minute. It was wonderful to see them making the most of such a special occasion and sharing the experience together.

When they returned, both ladies spoke about what a fantastic evening they had enjoyed, making all the planning worthwhile.
Moments like these reflect the importance of supporting residents to enjoy the experiences that matter most to them and helping make personal wishes a reality.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this Wishing Tree dream come true 💙

A day of art, conversation and discovery 🖼️

Ruth and Donald recently enjoyed a visit to The Burrell Collection in Pollok Park, accompanied by colleagues Brooke and Mandy.

With so much to explore, there was plenty to catch their attention throughout the galleries. Donald particularly enjoyed spending time looking at the Degas pieces, taking in the details and sharing his thoughts along the way, while Ruth enjoyed exploring the variety of artwork and exhibits on display.

Before heading home, the group made time for a visit to see Pollok Park's famous Highland cows, which were a lovely addition to an already enjoyable day out.

Trips like these are a great opportunity to explore local attractions, spend time together and enjoy new experiences beyond the home.

An afternoon of music, conversation and community 💜

Janette, Ann and Betty recently enjoyed a trip to Barrhead Memory Lane, where they spent the afternoon singing along to familiar songs, meeting people from the local community and enjoying a cuppa with a biscuit.

With live entertainment from Bert Turner and Jimmy Goldie, there were plenty of opportunities to join in with the music and enjoy the atmosphere. Alongside the singing and dancing, the ladies also enjoyed chatting with new faces and spending time together.

It was a lovely way to connect with the local community, and a great afternoon out that they're already looking forward to doing again. 🎵
