Congratulations to Priorsford Early Learning and Childcare Hub in Peebles who recently achieved full accreditation of the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland Early Learning Scheme, contributing to a social and cultural change by promoting an early years environment where breastfeeding is seen as the normal way to feed infants and young children.

Priorsford is the first EL&C setting in the Scottish Borders to achieve the award, having reviewed their environment, resources, and practice and undertaking online training to ensure that breastfeeding is represented positively and that families feel supported when feeding their child within the setting,

The Breastfeeding Friendly Early Years scheme was created to support nurseries and early years settings to:
🤱Promote a breastfeeding friendly environment
🤱Support families and colleagues who breastfeed
🤱Learn more about the benefits of breastfeeding

Early Years settings are also encouraged to:
⭐Adopt a Breastfeeding and Returning to Work policy to assure pregnant and breastfeeding employees that should they wish to; they will be supported to continue breastfeeding on return to work
⭐Be aware of local services where breastfeeding families can access support and information and to signpost families to this support if desired

If you are an early years setting interested in signing up to scheme and would like some more information then please contact: [email protected]
