4 Ways to Challenge Your Core 💪

The Pallof press is more than just a core exercise—it teaches your body to resist movement, not create it, which can be helpful with some daily activities.

✅ Builds anti-rotation strength
✅ Improves core stability
✅ Enhances shoulder stability
✅ Promotes spinal control
✅ Supports better posture and movement efficiency

By resisting the pull of the band or cable, your trunk, hips, and shoulders work together to keep you stable—making it a great exercise for sport, lifting, and everyday activities.

Which variation would you find the most challenging? 👇

1. Deadbug hold
2. Split stance stirring the pot
3. Overhead press (controlling hyperextension)
4. Overhead press (anti-rotation/side flexion)

Welcome Izzy to IHP! 😊

I’ve know Izzy for several years and we are very excited to have her on board, she’s a top notch Physio 🙌

Izzy graduated from Ulster University with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and has experience working with senior and junior sports teams across football, rugby and Gaelic football. She enjoys helping people of all ages recover from injury, reduce pain and return confidently to sport, work and everyday life.

Her treatment approach combines hands-on physiotherapy with tailored exercise rehabilitation, creating personalised treatment plans that reflect each patient’s goals, lifestyle and activity level. Izzy has completed additional training in acupuncture, dry needling, soft tissue therapies and specialised taping techniques, allowing her to provide treatments tailored to each individual’s needs.

Whether supporting an athlete back to competition or helping someone overcome aggravating pain, Izzy is passionate about delivering high-quality care that builds confidence, restores movement and promotes long-term physical health.

Outside the clinic, Izzy enjoys rowing, rock climbing and CrossFit, giving her a firsthand understanding of the physical demands of training and the importance of effective rehabilitation.

🏃💨 Struggling to return to running? 🏃‍♀️💨

Maybe confidence? Maybe too much too soon? Too fast too soon? Maybe you don’t know where to start?

We get asked these questions regularly in the clinic.

If your discomfort is 4/10 or less and you’re still functional, best getting started to build up load tolerance and capacity.

If you’re not up to distance or sp*ed quite yet, keep it simple: start slow and steady, distance before sp*ed.

Example:

Week 1: 4 min walk : 1 min jog x 3-4 (15-20mins) x 2-3 per week

Week 2: 3 min walk : 2 min jog x 3-6 (15-30mins) x 2-3 per week

Week 3: 2 min walk : 3 min jog x 5-6 (25-30mins) x 2-3 per week

Week 4: 1 min walk : 4 min jog x 6-8 (30- 40mins) x 2-3 p*e week

Obviously, it’s not one size fits, this is a simple example of how we may build our patients back in running tolerance. Depending on how you feel, progress or regress accordingly.

We will always strive to keep our patients in the game doing what they l love doing E.g running 🏃💨
