💛 ONE WEEK TO GO! 💛

As we approach World Su***de Prevention Day, our charity has been extremely active in so many different ways to promote positive mental health, raise awareness around su***de prevention and support our local community.

❤️ LOCAL BUSINESSES — WE NEED YOUR HELP! ❤️

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who has already sponsored a table at our Quiz Night. Your generosity means more than you know.

We still have a few tables available, and we’re asking local businesses to get behind us.

If you’re involved in sport, you’ll know how difficult it is for clubs to raise money and keep their doors open. Yet these clubs are at the heart of our communities — and they’re also a place where people connect, belong and support each other.

That’s why SPORTS Mental Health NI is committed to supporting them with:

🧠 FREE Mental Health Training
💙 FREE Counselling Services
⚽ Support for the wellbeing of sports club members

We don’t charge clubs for these services. We rely on donations and the generosity of people like you to make it possible.

So, if your business can sponsor a table for £50, you’re not just supporting a Quiz Night…

👉 You’re helping us support the mental health of people in our local sports clubs.

£50 can help us make a difference.

Please get in touch if you can sponsor a table or would like to support our charity.

❤️ Support us, and together we can support our sports clubs.

🧠💚 YOUR VOICE CAN HELP SHAPE BETTER MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

There are many ways we can support, improve and raise awareness of mental health — through education, training, counselling, physical activity, connection, community support and simply being there for one another.

But there is another incredibly important piece of the puzzle - Research!!!

Good research helps us understand what people actually need, what is working, and where improvements can be made.

That’s why I’m asking a favour of each and every one of you. 🙏

Whether you are someone who has used mental health services, or someone who provides support or works within mental health services, we would really encourage you to complete this short online survey.

The research, being carried out by Stephen Mc Daid from Ulster University, is looking at how physical activity is currently supported within mental health services across Northern Ireland.

⏱️ It takes around 15 minutes
🔒 It is completely anonymous
💬 Your experiences and views could help identify ways to improve access, support and service delivery.

By taking part, you have an opportunity to make your voice heard and help shape better support and services for others in the future.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and, just as importantly, share this post with anyone who may be able to contribute.

👉 Complete the survey here:
https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/ulster/physical-activity-in-mental-health-services-in-northern-ireland

Your experience. Your voice. Your opportunity to help create change. 💚

🌟 Have your say: Physical Activity & Mental Health 🌟
Do you support, or have experience supporting, people with mental health difficulties in a paid or voluntary role, or are you an adult who receives or has previously received support for a long-term or recurring mental health condition that significantly impacts daily life?

Complete our short survey exploring how physical activity is supported within mental health services. Your views can help us identify ways to improve access, support, and service delivery.

🕒 Takes around 15 minutes
✅ Completely anonymous
🎤 Optional follow-up interview (if you’re interested)

Your voice can help shape better support and services.

🧠 ONLY A FEW SPACES LEFT!
MHFA Training Sun 13th & 20th September

Is your sports club doing enough to support the mental health and wellbeing of its members?

We invest so much in physical health — mental health deserves the same attention.

Does your club have someone who can champion wellbeing? It doesn’t have to be the Safeguarding Officer — just someone who cares, shows compassion and is willing to support others.

👏 Thank you to the clubs who have already signed up for our FREE Mental Health First Aid training.

This is a PHA-certified course that gives club members the knowledge and confidence to recognise when someone may be struggling and know how to support them.

💙 We’re making this training FREE to sports clubs because we want clubs to be better equipped to look after their people.

⚽🏉🏑 Don’t miss out. Get your club involved.

Let’s get behind the lads! 💪👏

They’ve taken on one heck of a challenge and are aiming to raise £1,885. They deserve huge credit for putting themselves through it and raising money for a great cause.

I’d really appreciate it if you could give their post a LIKE 👍 and, more importantly, SHARE it across your own socials. You never know who might see it and be able to help them get closer to their target.

And if you’re in a position to donate, every contribution — big or small — will make a difference. ❤️

Come on folks, let’s get behind them and help them smash that £1,885 target! 🔥💪

The 1885 Challenge is back for the 6th year and this year we want to go even bigger and better!

For those new to the club, the 1885 Challenge is when members of Donaghadee RFC take on walking, running and cycling a combined 1,885 miles in one month to raise money for good causes. This August we will be taking on the challenge in aid of Northern Ireland Chest, Heart & Stroke, as well as SPORTS - Su***de Prevention Offering Recovery Through Sport.

NI Chest, Heart & Stroke is a fantastic charity that does incredible work for those facing life-changing illness and is a charity close to the hearts of many in the club. Only a matter of months ago, young Peter Causby - a Dee youth graduate and emerging young 1st XV player suffered a stroke, much to the shock of his family, friends and teammates. Thankfully Peter is on the road to recovery due to outstanding treatment by the NHS and support networks. The work that NICHS does helps us to learn more on how to combat a multitude of different illnesses such as this - from prevention to crucial support.

Our second charity this year is SPORTS - Su***de Prevention Offering Recovery Through Sport, a local charity that do amazing work in encouraging sports clubs to be a forum for open and honest conversations about mental health. SPORTS offers training and awareness courses, counselling services and community work, helping many through mental health struggles, which are becoming increasingly prevalent in Northern Ireland in recent years.

*So how can you help?* We need members to get active this August and contribute anything you can to the mileage through walks, cycles and runs - no matter the distance or speed! There is a WhatsApp group set up to clock the miles and support each other along the way, so just comment below if you want to join in.

Finally, we need to raise as much money as possible for these amazing charities, so if you can donate whatever you can through the link below, we would be extremely appreciative of any contributions.

Lets get the miles in and get it done!
