There’s a lot of noise in the online motherhood space right now, trends that sound supportive but quietly add pressure instead of relieving it.
As a perinatal counsellor, my job isn’t to keep you in line with what’s trending. It’s to help you actually feel human again in a season that reshapes everything about who you are.
Matrescence isn’t a hashtag. It’s a real, lasting identity shift and it deserves real support, not another wellness trend to keep up with.
If any of these hit a nerve, you’re allowed to opt out of the pressure too.
Which one resonated most? Tell me below.
Or DM me “SUPPORT” if you’re ready for real support, not more noise.

I had HG. I was sick constantly, barely functioning, and still had to fight to be taken seriously by the people meant to be caring for me.
That experience shapes every session I run with mums who’ve been through pregnancy trauma or medical dismissal. You don’t have to convince me your experience was real, or that it was “that bad.” I already know it was.
If you’ve felt unheard during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum, you deserve a space where that gets named, not minimised.
Follow for more on pregnancy trauma, matrescence, and postpartum support.

This year I feel like I finally understood matrescence.
Not just as a concept I learned about in books or training…
But as something I have lived.
I’ve spent years wondering why I felt like I had lost parts of myself after becoming a mum.
Why I could love my children so deeply, but still miss the woman I was before.
Why motherhood could feel both beautiful and incredibly hard.
And this year something shifted.
I started choosing myself again.
I started moving my body.
I started nourishing myself.
I started reconnecting with my passions.
I started healing parts of myself I had carried for years.
I started rebuilding my confidence and trusting myself again.
And I realised…

Matrescence isn’t about going back to who you were before children.
It’s about becoming someone new.
Someone who holds all the versions of herself:
The woman she was.
The mother she became.
And the person she is still growing into.
Understanding matrescence has changed the way I see motherhood and it’s changed the way I support the mums I work with.
Because behind so many struggles I see in therapy are women who aren’t failing…
They’re navigating one of the biggest identity transformations of their lives.
And they deserve support through that.
If you’re a mum who feels like you’re still trying to find yourself again, you’re not alone

My Postpartum Journal is now on Etsy, something I wish existed when I was in the thick of early motherhood myself.
It’s not another journal telling you to “just be grateful” or “enjoy every moment.” It’s space for the stuff that’s actually true- the identity shifts, the exhaustion, the rage you didn’t expect, the grief for who you were before. Matrescence, named and held, one page at a time.
If you’re in it right now or you know someone who is, this one’s for you.

Every single one of these makes my blood boil because I hear versions of them from mums constantly, and every time it’s the same story: something huge happened to her, and nobody named it.
Motherhood changes you at an identity level. That’s not dramatic, that’s matrescence. It deserves language, support, and people who don’t dismiss it as “just hormones” or “just being tired.”
If you read any of these and felt that fire in your chest — that’s not you being sensitive. That’s you finally being seen.
Which one hit hardest? Drop it below or DM me “SUPPORT” if you want to talk about what you’re carrying.

If you’re new here, welcome.

If you’re looking for a therapist who believes you should “just be grateful” or “think more positively”... I’m probably not the right fit.
But if you’re a mum who’s feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted or wondering why motherhood feels so much harder than you expected, I’m so glad you’re here.
When we work together, I want you to feel heard, understood and supported.
I believe therapy should be a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re coping.
A space where your experiences make sense.
A space where you’re gently challenged when you’re ready, given practical tools you can actually use, and reminded that you’re never “too much.”
Because motherhood changes more than your routine, it changes you. And you deserve support through that too.
If that sounds like the kind of therapy you’ve been looking for, I’d love to help.
