Update on Phoenix.
I decided to ask Sarah from Rathmel Equine Vets to come out as a matter of urgency, due to Poor Phoenix becoming very swollen in his legs and neck, on attendance we both agree he is highly allergic to black flies‼️ who have literally eaten him raw.
Sarah has given him a course of steroids intravenously this evening, and which I will continue to give him for the next three days, Phoenix has also had penicillin and will continue with that until Monday, hopefully we have caught this early enough as it could have resulted in Celucitous due to Phoenix's extreme allergic reaction, he also has a steroid and antibacterial cream which is hopefully going to ease the itching and pain.
Hopefully the poor fella should feel a lot better by tomorrow... He's such a good boy bless him🙏

Sorry - Upsetting content‼️

Poor, poor Phoenix has been literally eaten alive by bloody flies, he has only been out in the field for 2 days!! in that time he has been covered with fly repellent three times a day and also has a fly rug and mask on
The others are plagued by them but nothing to this extent, the poor fellas face looks like he's been skinned alive.
Phoenix has been pin fired and the scares on his legs have also been affected by the disgusting creatures.
He, and them all! 🐴 are so happy to be brought in, I've washed all the wounds with a hibbiscrub solution, and coated him in Sudo cream. Vet has recommended Cetirizine antihistamine tablets - 32 a day to be administered 16 am and 16 pm.
Phoenix will also have steroid injections asap through a vet visit.

At last we have a little bit of rain, which we desperately need as everything is so dried up. Apparently the heat wave is going to continue next week and it's going to get much worse, predicted to be over 35 degrees in some parts of the UK 🥵

If you have horses please make sure they have adequate fresh water and shade as this heat can kill..

Please put a little water out for the wild life and birds, as they will really appreciate it. 🦔🐦‍⬛

Taking a 🐕 out in the scorching heat is not pleasant for them, they can and do overheat, going for a walk in the scorching sun with a fur coat on with there feet getting scorched on red hot pavements 🔥 🐾 panting and getting dragged along, especially older dogs!! is horrendous for them ... I have witnessed this myself and received verbal abuse for pointing this out 😡

No dog ever died through postponing a walk!

Cats 🐈‍⬛are also vulnerable in this weather, cats cannot sweat, or pant, so please keep them in the cool shade during the day where they will enjoy a nice snooze and enjoy cool nighttime prrrrrowls 😻

The cows 🐄 and their calves are making the most of this nice cool breeze and have the river which they enjoy a paddle in when it gets to hot.

A cooler day here while sitting out with the boys 🐴 contemplating getting things up together for our move to Ayrshire in October, lots to sort out, and all bit daunting, so much stuff... Got to start somewhere so it might as well be today. 🙂

Good morning 🌞 the weather is thankfully a lot cooler at the moment, thank goodness.
Just before I started my chores I looked through my photos and came across this photo from last year, of little Lucy, who's 14 now and my beloved Whiskey who passed 🌈5 months ago at 24 years old.
Every day should be a blessing with our beloved dear ones, none of us know how much time we have left together.
If only we could just be thankful for everything we have, there are always others who are a lot less fortunate, we should look after and cherish each other, one day it will be to late.
Greed, jealousy and cruelty is in my opinion abhorrent and sickening, I can't understand how the atrocities caused by the human race happen, it affects and saddens me deeply 😑
If we treated others the way we would wish to be treated, and that includes animals! as they have no voice, and have as much right to be on this planet as us, then I'm sure the world would be a much happier place to live in.
Kindness and empathy cost nothing, and on that note.
