Patient Notice: Urine Sample Containers
We have recently been made aware that some information shared regarding urine sample containers may not have been entirely accurate.
To ensure patients receive the correct advice, clinicians and our Patient Coordinator team will advise patients on the most appropriate urine sample container to use, depending on the type of testing required. Different urine containers are used for different investigations, and using the correct container helps ensure that samples can be processed appropriately and results are as accurate as possible.
If you are asked to provide a urine sample and are unsure which container is required, please contact the practice before submitting your sample and a member of the team will be happy to assist.
We would like to apologise for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate your understanding and patience while we ensure that the information we provide to patients remains accurate, up to date, and supports the safe delivery of care.

Have you heard of the Message in a Bottle scheme?
This free and easy-to-use initiative helps emergency services and healthcare professionals quickly access important information about you if you are unable to communicate in an emergency.
The scheme involves placing a small bottle containing essential details in your fridge, including:
β€’ Current medications
β€’ Medical conditions
β€’ Allergies
β€’ Emergency contact details
β€’ Any communication or accessibility needs
A special sticker is placed on your front door and fridge to let emergency responders know that the information is available.
Who Can Benefit?
Message in a Bottle can be particularly useful for:
βœ… Older adults
βœ… People living alone
βœ… Those with long-term health conditions
βœ… Carers and vulnerable individuals
βœ… Anyone who would like extra peace of mind
Why Is It Important?
In an emergency, having immediate access to accurate medical information can help emergency services make informed decisions and contact loved ones quickly.
How Can I Get One?
Message in a Bottle container are often available free of charge from local Lions Clubs, pharmacies, community organisations, and support groups. If you would like more information, please speak to a member of our team. For further details please click on the link https://www.neas.nhs.uk/community-learning/message-bottle
πŸ’š A simple bottle containing vital information could make a big difference when every minute matters.

Top Tip: If you already have a Message in a Bottle, remember to review and update the information inside whenever your medications, health conditions, or emergency contacts change.

Working in partnership with the Lion’s Club International, our Message in a Bottle scheme helps you to keep your personal and medical information in a place where it can easily be found by us in an emergency – your fridge.
