When looking for a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) PLEASE check..
1) How/where/when did they qualify?
2) Are they registered with the BABCP (British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists).
3) Are they insured? (the other 2 questions will influence this).
4) Can they explain themselves in a way that makes sense to you and they genuinely seem to want and seemigly able to help you with actual tools/strategies and techniques. They should be able to tell you what they will do to help you with your goals that manages your expectations.
You don’t have to work with me, but please ensure you get credible, qualified, honest and evidence based help and support. There are some amazing therapists and some absolute shockers (typically as they don’t have the answers to my questions above).
Private therapy is a significant financial investment that you should expect a return on.
*Please Note: Although (sadly) being appropriately qualified doesn’t automatically make for a good therapist, it significantly can help positively influence the information and support you’ll receive.
