Helen Lewis Reflexology

Helen Lewis Reflexology Helen qualified in 2000 and is a leading practitioner in Northants, Daventry, Rugby and surrounding areas.

Helen works clincially; integrating her treatments with your conventional medical care for optimal results. Helen Lewis began her Reflexology journey in 1999, after she suffered with fertility and health issues. At the time, Reflexology was fairly unknown, and it was only when Helen conceived during receiving weekly treatments as part of her training, that she realised just how powerful and effect

ive this naturally gentle therapy could be. Fast forward on to the current day, and Helen now lives with her husband, various pets and is a mum to two adult boys. In her career she has become one of the region’s leading practitioners, and her knowledge and results have inspired others to learn Reflexology and become therapists themselves, often under her mentorship. Helen still continues to train and integrate her work alongside a recognised team of international osteopaths. This has given her a unique approach to how the bio mechanical movement of the body can affect human health, and has enabled her to achieve optimum results with her patients. Helen specialises in conception, maternity and post natal care, and offers treatments and support for pregnant and post natal mothers and babies. Helen is a co creator of the 'Barefoot Baby Targeted Approach'. These informative classes help parents to understand how to maximise their baby’s health and wellbeing, at what is often an emotional and daunting time. Helen also works with medical professionals where possible, to support women with their mental and physical health during conception, pregnancy and post natal stsges. Helen is a Director of The Cedar Grove Clinic in Daventry, which promotes family health and wellbeing in the local community. Helen and her team always try to work in conjunction with your medical practitioners to offer the best all round care for you and your family, and are not a substitute for conventional medical care. Clinic appointments, virtual online assessments and consultations are available to support you and your family by appointment.

Why would you choose to have Reflexology during pregnancy?

Reflexology is a wonderful complementary therapy to experience during pregnancy and offers numerous benefits at all stages including;

👣 Reducing stress and anxiety.
Reflexology promotes relaxation, calming the mind and body.

👣Relieves pain. Treatments can help alleviate back pain and symptoms of joint discomfort and SPD.

👣Improves circulation. Reflexology encourages circulation to balance. Good for blood pressure.

👣Encourages lymphatic drainage. Especially helpful for those struggling with swelling in their feet and legs.

👣Supports hormonal balance. Reflexology can help regulate hormonal changes during pregnancy.

👣Promotes sleep for optimal rest and relaxation.

👣Prepares the body for labor.
Regular reflexology sessions may help the body prepare for the birthing process and support a timely labor.

👣Reduces symptoms of morning sickness. Reflexology can help alleviate nausea and vomiting.

👣Boosts mood. Reflexology can help the body release endorphins, which can help reduce depression and anxiety.

👣Makes Mummy feel more comfortable. During a treatment baby is encouraged to find a better position. As Helen can usually 'feel' where baby is, they are often helped to gently move into a less uncomfortable position.

It's essential to find a qualified reflexologist who has experience working with pregnant women. They will adapt techniques to accommodate the pregnancy and avoid certain pressure points that may stimulate uterine contractions until the correct time.

Remember to consult your healthcare provider before starting reflexology treatments. Reflexology does not replace medical or Midwifery care.

Due to a very busy diary, early booking is advised.

Every week I see a lot of clients seeking support for aches and pains and one of the questions I always ask is 'how much water do you drink?'

Staying hydrated is vitally important for your overall health and wellbeing: Water makes up to 60% of the body and lubricates certain parts such as joints and muscles. A properly hydrated body helps oxygen and nutrients get where they are needed.

A good fluid intake

* improves circulation
* helps you think more clearly
* improves digestion/gut health
* prevents constipation
* prevents urinary tract infections
* reduces joint pain
* promotes healthy skin.
* Water lubricates the joints
* It forms saliva and mucus
* Water delivers oxygen throughout the body.
* Water cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues.

For those who don't like water, remember we can also consume water with low sugar squash, fruits and vegetables. Tea and coffee is can count too. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, in a hot environment, unwell or recovering from illness and
physically active for long periods will need to consume more. If in doubt check with your healthcare provider.
Most people should aim to drink enough during the day so their p*e is a clear pale yellow colour which is a good guide to having sufficient hydration.

There are many common misconceptions about Reflexology, and I’m often asked questions about how it works.

Reflexology is based on the principle that reflex points on the feet, hands, ears, and face correspond with different areas of the body. Using specific techniques and pressure during treatment can support the body’s natural ability to relax, restore balance, and promote wellbeing—both physically and emotionally. I also use unique techniques developed over many years in conjunction with my osteopathic colleagues. These help support your body's gait, and offer relief to alleviate physical aches and pains, gently and effectively.

Treatments are suitable for all ages from infancy. It’s always recommended to check that your practitioner is fully insured and registered with a recognised professional body.

I always work to integrate with your medical conventional care and am happy to accept GP and midwifery referrals.*

If you’re interested in Reflexology or have any questions about treatment, please feel free to get in touch.
