Look at lovely Duncan, who is doing so well with his swimming sessions!

Duncan comes for regular sessions to help manage and support his joints, reducing stiffness and discomfort. Swimming is a completely non-weight-bearing form of hydrotherapy, allowing dogs to move their joints more freely while helping to relieve stiffness. It also supports cardiovascular fitness and helps maintain muscle mass.

As part of his sessions, Duncan enjoys massage while resting on the underwater platform, which further helps to relieve muscular pain and tension.

Well done Duncan!

Very applicable to how we assess the dogs that come to us. Our key goal is pain free before embarking on more complex skills, hence why we always do physiotherapy sessions before hydrotherapy.

It’s hot, but don’t worry we have air con in the unit so we can keep your dog as cool as possible during treatments.

We also turn the heating down slightly on the pool and treadmill water (still within in a therapeutic level). We will also leave your dogs wet leaving their session so they stay as cool as possible for their journey home. Your dogs welfare is our priority.

How cute does Sam look 🦖

Sam has started coming to us for both physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. He recently started swimming and although it’s not his favourite thing yet, the power of chicken and lots of fuss helps him and he’s slowly coming round to the idea.

Did you know we offer acupuncture ❕

These sessions are performed by our lovely vet Dr James. He also does our pain clinics and has a wealth of knowledge and understanding.

What it does:
- It can help to reduce pain
- Improves circulation
- Relaxes muscles and fascia
- Stimulates release of the the body’s own anti-inflammatories
- Stimulates the release of pain relieving endorphins

It is especially useful for animals in chronic pain as it can help reset the nervous system by calming nerve activity and promoting natural healing. Acupuncture helps break the cycle of persistent pain and restore comfort and function.

It really helps arthritic dogs, dogs in chronic pain and those who we see with compensatory issues and patterns of tension. It is something we recommend regardless but we have found it especially useful for when physiotherapy is not enough.

If you’re interested in this service for your dog please contact us to book in or discuss further.

Something different from dog related posts. Great free thing to do this month, lots of amazing local artists and crafts people showcasing their work, including my dad. The locations are lovely to visit anyway and added bonus of supporting local businesses.

This is beautiful Lola. We have been seeing Lola for some time, she’d been presenting with an on and off FL lameness. We weren’t happy she was making enough progress through just physiotherapy so we advised further help.

Through having a wonderful owner and vet team on board with our team, they operated on Lola due to tears in both biceps tendons. She is now looking fab and back to her normal self and activities. The value of having a great team that advocates for every dog they see is that dog can lead a happy and healthy life again.
