Patients have also found osteopathy helpful for conditions such as digestive issues, circulatory problems, neuralgia and problems sleeping and for the symptoms of many others.

Did you know that pain and mental health are closely connected? 💙

Many people think of physical pain and mental wellbeing as two separate things, but they often go hand in hand.

When we’re feeling stressed, anxious or low, our muscles can become tense, our sleep may suffer, and our body’s ability to cope with pain can change. Equally, living with ongoing pain can affect our mood, confidence and overall emotional wellbeing.

That’s why it’s so important to look at the whole picture.

As a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) therapist, I work with people to help them understand how their thoughts, emotions and behaviours can influence how they feel – both mentally and physically.

At Brixworth Osteopathic Clinic, our team takes a holistic approach to your health. Whether you’re struggling with persistent pain, stress, anxiety, or a combination of the two, we’re here to support you and help you find the right path forward.

Sometimes, improving your mental wellbeing can help reduce the impact of pain. And sometimes, relieving physical pain can improve your mental wellbeing. The two are more connected than many people realise.

If you’d like to find out more about CBT or IPT, or you’re unsure whether therapy could help, I’d be happy to chat through your options.

Getting away this summer? ✈️🚗☀️

Long journeys, whether by car, train or plane, can leave your body feeling stiff and uncomfortable before your holiday has even begun.

I’ve put together a few simple stretches you can do before, during and after your journey to help keep your body moving and reduce stiffness. They’re quick, easy, and don’t require any special equipment (and can be done even if you are not travelling!)

Give them a try and let us know how you get on!

For more tips on preparing your body for holiday travel, take a look at our latest blog for plenty of practical advice to help you arrive feeling your best.

Can’t get an appointment with one of our Osteopaths? I may still be able to help. 👋

If you’re dealing with back pain, neck pain, muscle tension, joint stiffness or a sports injury, don’t assume you have to wait until an Osteopathy appointment becomes available.

As the clinic’s Sports & Rehabilitation Therapist, I work with people of all ages and activity levels - not just athletes. My aim is to help reduce pain, improve movement and get you back to doing the things you enjoy.

Using a combination of hands-on treatment, rehabilitation exercises and practical advice, I’ll create a treatment plan that’s tailored to you and your goals.

If our Osteopaths are fully booked, ask our reception team whether a Sports & Rehabilitation appointment with me could be the right option for your symptoms.

I look forward to helping you on your road to recovery.

Have you ever noticed how our relationships, loss or even major life changes, can have such a big impact on our mood and how we feel?

Whether it's the loss of someone close, difficulties in a relationship, becoming a parent, changing jobs, retirement, ill health or simply feeling disconnected from those around us, life's experiences can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious or low.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a gentle, evidence-based talking therapy that focuses on these important connections. Together, we explore how your relationships and life events may be affecting your emotional wellbeing, while helping you develop practical ways to improve communication, strengthen relationships, build coping strategies and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.

I love that IPT doesn't just focus on symptoms – it helps us understand the bigger picture of what's happening in our lives and how we can move forward in a positive way.

If you're struggling and feel that your relationships or recent life changes may be playing a part, I'd be happy to talk with you about whether IPT could be the right approach for you.

Take care,

Debbie 💙

“Does Cranial Osteopathy hurt my baby?”

It’s one of the questions we’re asked a lot by new parents.

In this short video clip, taken by the full interview with Christian Baker, Kate explains why Cranial Osteopathy is an incredibly gentle technique and how it may help babies who are finding feeding and attachment difficult.

If you’ve been wondering whether it’s right for your little one, take a look and, as always, we’re happy to answer any questions. You can book a 15 minute free consultation or to book an appointment with Kate. 💙

Sitting at a desk all day?

If you’re working at a computer for hours on end, it’s easy to end up with stiff shoulders, an aching neck, or a sore lower back. But the good news is that a few simple habits can make a real difference.

In this video, Jay explains why it’s so important to avoid staying in one position for too long. His top tip? Every 20–30 minutes, get up and move!

If you’re struggling with aches and pains from desk work, our Sports Rehabilitation and Osteopathy team are here to help. Get in touch to book an appointment and keep your body moving comfortably 💪
