This week we enjoyed a visit to a Farm in Yelvertoft, hosted by the lovely Milly Fyfe.
During the visit, Milly introduced the group to the fully functioning site, where members learned about the various rigours and challenges involved in running a livestock farm.
During the session, we made fresh bread, butter, treacle cake and vegetable soup entirely from scratch. We were provided with recipe cards to encourage us to cook at home and to help remove any apprehension around cooking from scratch. Our members were particularly enthusiastic about making their own butter, and the treacle cake was rated a 10/10!
We later enjoyed a walk around the farm, where we met the animals and discussed their care, wellbeing, feeding and growth schedules before enjoying a delicious self-prepared lunch. The afternoon was rounded off with a Tai Chi session followed by a guided meditation.
This was the second trip made available to members of recovery, and it was a great success. One of our members said "During our visit to the farm, I really enjoyed seeing different animals and found it to be really relaxing and educational, would highly recommend itโฆ"
