This week is turning out to be an absolute scorcher! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŒž

With the heat on the rise this week, here are a few things to be mindful of if you're using drugs.

Remember to stay hydrated, keep cool, and look after yourself and others. If you'd like any extra support, get in touch.

Earlier this week, we attended an equine therapy session at Mill Farm with Live, Love, Be!

With beautiful sunshine throughout the day, we had a fantastic day meeting all of the horses, learning how to groom them and choosing our favourite horse to spend the day with.

Later in the day, we enjoyed a delicious lunch around the campfire, and took part in some therapeutic art activities. The day was a fantastic experience for us all to get out, enjoy the sunshine and take part in some relaxing, educational and purposeful activities to help guide recovery.

A big thank you to Emma and her helpers for guiding us through our day, and a special thank you to those at Mill Farm who made the day extra special - the horses!

As part of our recovery offer, we're working with Lizzie at Tellus Mater, who is delivering a 12-week 'Nature Therapy, Well-being & Sustainable Change' programme.

Lizzie recently delivered a 'nature connection and introduction to foraging' workshop - she's now been running sessions for us for over four years!

With simple wild food learning and a little take-home inspiration to add wild leaves to your regular food, we were encouraged to get started on our wild food learning journey to support our diet, health, mental health and recovery.

The group learned and then foraged for some common sorrel in Tellus Mater Meadow, which was added to their own freshly prepared 'normal' salad. We also learned the basics of common hogweed identification, using the angelica and cow parsley growing too in Tellus Mater Meadow as great comparative plants, all from the Apiaceae family.

We learned a lot and also enjoyed some quality time with the animals and poultry too. One of our members even nearly got left behind as they were taking some downtime in the hammock by the river!

On this beautiful sunny Spring day, the team have been out and about litter-picking in our local area.

They've enjoyed getting their steps in the sunshine, the fresh air, having a good natter - and a free cuppa to reward their hard work!

This week we enjoyed a visit to a Farm in Yelvertoft, hosted by the lovely Milly Fyfe.

During the visit, Milly introduced the group to the fully functioning site, where members learned about the various rigours and challenges involved in running a livestock farm.

During the session, we made fresh bread, butter, treacle cake and vegetable soup entirely from scratch. We were provided with recipe cards to encourage us to cook at home and to help remove any apprehension around cooking from scratch. Our members were particularly enthusiastic about making their own butter, and the treacle cake was rated a 10/10!

We later enjoyed a walk around the farm, where we met the animals and discussed their care, wellbeing, feeding and growth schedules before enjoying a delicious self-prepared lunch. The afternoon was rounded off with a Tai Chi session followed by a guided meditation.

This was the second trip made available to members of recovery, and it was a great success. One of our members said "During our visit to the farm, I really enjoyed seeing different animals and found it to be really relaxing and educational, would highly recommend itโ€ฆ"

As part of the new Inspire service, the gardening group has started at Spring House.

A number of people who access the support we offer at Inspire have been spending time clearing the grounds and planting up the planters, helping to tidy the outdoor space and prepare it for the warmer months.

Itโ€™s been a positive start, with everyone enjoying some time outdoors and taking part in a calm, purposeful activity that supports wellbeing and recovery. A great first step ๐Ÿ’š

We support a wide range of people - from different backgrounds and with different circumstances - to make a positive change to their alcohol or drug use.

โ€œThe compassion, guidance and non-judgemental support from the recovery workers, alongside the support of peers, has helped me regain control and make positive changes in my life. Iโ€™ve learnt new skills, built resilience and gained hope for the future.โ€

With many of our team having their own lived experience, you can speak to us openly and honestly, with no fear of judgement.
