Some needed time away in Mull this week, in advance of this weekend’s Reiki Master Teacher course with a student who began her journey with me back in 2023.
Around a year ago, I knew I had students wanting to go the distance and so I put in the work; Reading, re-reading, studying, exploring, educating, immersing, reflecting, scoping out, taking inspiration, and 100% building it out to a standard that I would want for myself.
I rewrote materials over and over again. I went cross-eyed many times. I worked on branding and design. And overall, I understood a deeper level of my role in this space. Leading others to a Master Teacher status is about ensuring that the correct teaching, methods, materials etc., are firm and hold worth. Otherwise it’s just a cheap, half-hearted course with no due diligence, and no care and attention. I respect this work too much to do that.
This journey is always unravelling, always offering new scope, and for that I am eternally grateful.
But there’s a unwavering hold of responsibility with it too.
I produced what I believe in. I produced something I stand exceptionally proud of.
It’s not a 1-day, or 4-hour course - I truly do not believe that is ethical, responsible, or even doable. Each to their own. But I know my values mean I’m here to do what is right.
My April launch of this course was 10-days, before their certificates were offered. And still now, I’m here, guiding them through launching their own courses, creating their materials, and finding their voice.
I’m a mentor. I’m a guide. I’m their Master Teacher, that doesn’t make me anything special, but it’s certainly something I hold myself accountable for.
